CAMBODIA-THAILAND: Conflict broke out yesterday between Thailand and Cambodia, with dozens killed. More than 130,000 Thai citizens have been evacuated from the border region.
CHINA: When the flooring gave way in a mine in Inner Mongolia, six university students visiting from Liaoning province fell into a flotation tank and drowned. A teacher was also injured.
TURKEY: A wildfire that broke out Tuesday in Eskisehir province killed ten firefighters. Daily temperatures have topped 40 degrees Celsius (104 Fahrenheit), causing fires in several areas of the country. Tens of thousands have had to evacuate their homes.
RUSSIA: A Soviet-era passenger plane with 48 passengers onboard crashed in the Amur Region yesterday. No known survivors.
GAZA: The death toll from starvation is now at least 113 since the war began. During recent Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) aid distributions, disturbances by armed (likely Hamas) instigators have caused crowd crushes and drawn Israeli gunfire. More than 1,000 people seeking food have died. On Wednesday a projectile from Khan Younis (IDF says it was Hamas) landed near a distribution site in Rafah, where GHF has been handing out weekly distributions to tens of thousands.
USA: Flash flooding has again necessitated many rescues in Ruidoso, New Mexico just two weeks after floods killed three.
Father God, please be with those affected by these events. Speak to them in personal ways and draw them to Yourself. Please comfort those who mourn, heal those who are injured, rescue those in danger, bring an end to conflict, and give wisdom to those in power as they deal with each of these situations. But most of all, Lord, we ask You to awaken every heart to You. Steal into their dreams, meet them throughout the day, get up in their face, invade their space, and show them who You truly are. Tear down every wall, remove the plaster from the spiritual eyes of the lost, and let them see You. Visit them relentlessly until every person knows how to be saved. Give them a hunger for You so deep they will lay down religion, hatred and violence, and surrender to Your love. Give Christians favor and bless them so abundantly they will have more than enough to share with their lost neighbors. Catch hearts on fire for Your purposes, O God. Begin a church planting movement in each of these countries that spreads out across nations, turning every heart to You. Change the face of the land, so that what once was a spiritual desert now flows with streams of Your Living Water. May every heart taste and see that You are good and surrender to Your grace and love. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
