A man died and at least five others were injured, one critically, after Independence Day fireworks exploded, catching a string of homes on fire in the Pacoima neighborhood of Los Angeles, California Thursday night.
On Tuesday, seven went missing, at least one is dead and two are injured, after a fireworks explosion at a warehouse near Esparto in Northern California sparked a massive fire that led to yet more fires.
Across the U.S., nearly 100 wildfires are currently burning, most of them in the West and 31 of them uncontained. The fast-moving Madre Fire in central California has burned more than 72,000 acres, making it the biggest wildfire in the state this year. Two wildfires rage near Fairbanks, Alaska, at zero containment, as of yesterday. But Utah‘s Forsyth Fire, which burned more than 13,000 acres, is nearly contained.
Wildfires along the Aegean coast in Izmir province, TURKEY killed two people and forced tens of thousands from their homes. Blazes in Hatay province Friday also spread across SYRIA‘s Latakia province.

Loving Father, please protect firefighters and give them wisdom in each situation. Contain these fires and please rescue those who are trapped, heal those who are injured, comfort those who mourn, provide for those in need, and rebuild the lives and homes of those who have lost so much. Do all these things in such a way that they will know You are the One who did that. When they cry out to You, answer them. Protect the children, heal hurting hearts and provide safe shelter, electricity, food and water for those without. Place within every soul a deep thirst for You. Remove every barrier that has kept them from salvation and give them courage to choose You as their Lord. Bring loving Christians to them to share Your good news. For Christians who are homeless now or who have lost loved ones, please carry them through this difficult time like only You can. Renew their strength and empower them to encourage others around them who are also hurting, offering them hope, a safe shoulder to cry on, and the way to salvation. Bless Christians so abundantly they will also abundantly bless others in need, as they share Your Good News with the lost. Bring forth a mighty movement of Your Spirit all across each of these areas affected by fires, leading thousands to faith in You. Open the eyes of the spiritually blind to see You as You truly are, and awaken every heart to Your love. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
