Wearing a tactical vest and carrying both a long gun and handgun, 31-year-old Brian Browning fired his weapon as he approached CrossPointe Community Church last Sunday in the Detroit suburb of Wayne, Michigan. Staff members intervened, thwarting the would-be mass-shooting of those gathered for worship, and a security guard’s gunfire killed him. One of the guards was wounded, but is recovering well after surgery. Brian’s mother is a member of CrossPointe and he attended 2-3 times in the last year. No motive is known except that he appeared to suffer from a mental crisis.
Authorities rescued 60 missing children, ages 9-17, and arrested eight criminals, including child predators, in Operation Dragon Eye this month, perhaps the most successful missing child operation by the Marshals Service and 20 other federal, local and state agencies. Most of the children were from the counties of Hillsborough, Pasco and Pinellas, Florida.
Last month, several victims were rescued and 255 suspects, ages 17-70, were arrested in a nine-day undercover human trafficking, child predators and illegal immigration investigation in Florida’s Polk County called “Fool Around and Find Out.”
Earlier this month in Texas, authorities arrested 76 gun and drug traffickers and recovered over 280 firearms, as well as 22 kilograms of narcotics.
Lord, thank You for protecting the worshippers at CrossPointe, for leading the staff members to intervene, and for healing the security guard’s leg. Please cast out all fear with Your perfect love. We also ask for Your tender kindness toward Brian’s mother at this difficult time. Hold her in Your arms and comfort her. Bring Christians around her to carry her through and help her to healing.
We praise You, God, for answering our prayers, especially for trafficked children, and for bringing criminals to justice. Thank You for each of the courageous people who did what it took to free victims and make these arrests. Please heal the hearts, bodies and minds of every rescued victim. Bring to them Christians who will love them, counsel them, help them heal and share with them Your plan for their salvation. Set them free from PTSD, fear and every enemy lie, attack and stronghold that has sought to bind them to his plans. Make the way for them to live full, God-empowered lives. Draw them into loving churches and save their entire families.
We pray also for each of these offenders who have been arrested. Meet them in their dreams, talk to them throughout the day, bring Christians to them to tell them of Your love and plan for their salvation, and put Bibles in their hands. Give them remorse for the terrible crimes they have conceived and/or committed. Make them so repulsed by their sin they will repent and turn to You. Show them You are the One they were created to live for, not lust, drugs or violence against children. Break them free from the chains that bind them to the evil one, and give them such a deep hunger for You they will surrender all to You. Transform so dramatically those who choose You as Savior that others will see the change in their lives and turn to You, as well. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
Lord, we pray for those across the USA and the world who are oppressed through human trafficking. Surround them with Your angels and Your protection. Invade their darkness with Your light. Speak to them. Tell them who You created them to be. Envelop them in Your love so completely, whatever the enemy does against them disappears in the vastness of Your love and grace. Be their Shield, such that every evil act against them comes up against YOU, O God, and stops short! Even backfires! This very moment, Lord, expose every human trafficker, and take them down. Open the door for those who are trapped and give them the way out. Get them to safety. Reunite them with their families. Even now, call out their rescuers who will steal them back from the enemy’s plans and into Your arms. Storm the dens where they are hidden. Bring to justice those who oppress and enslave them. And heal each heart, mind and body. Be merciful to them, O God. Meet them in their dreams. Talk them through each terror. Set them free from the trauma, addictions, oppression, and tormenting thoughts. Pour Your love out over them, like a cool, refreshing balm that heals. Draw them up into Your arms, and give them a safe place in You to rest and be healed. Set the captives free, O God. Set them free! And Father, we ask You for the children whose parents have pushed them across borders all alone, hoping for a better life for them, but now they are abandoned, hungry, raped, abused, in dangerous situations without someone who truly cares for them. Please, Lord, expose the atrocities, and slam that door shut. Raise up churches and Christian families who will take these children under their wings and care for them somehow. Bring into the open every evil deed that has been covered up. Raise up those who will bravely stand against dangerous people in order to rescue the children. Protect them, guide them and save them. Expose and stop all trafficking. By Your mighty, loving hand, rescue the children, Lord. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
