Every year in the 98% Islamic country of Pakistan, about 1,000 Christian and Hindu girls face abduction, abuse and forced marriage to Muslim men. Most of the victims fall between the ages of 14 and 18, but many are as young as 10.
Praise God, and thanks to your prayers here at PrayerWall.pw, a new law was signed May 29 by President Asif Ali Zardari to raise the legal age for marriage to 18 for both genders. Living with a minor in marital relationship is now considered rape, a point which raised fierce opposition from Islamist groups. Those in violation of this law will face up to three years of rigorous imprisonment. (May 30, Christian Daily International-Morning Star News)
In addition, registrars are required to check and confirm the age of both parties applying for marriage using their legal identity cards issued by the National Database and Registration Authority. Failure to do so could mean jail time and heavy fines.
Let’s pray all the more fervently for Fairy Shaukat, 12; Muskan Salman, 15; Jessica Iqbal, 16, and every Christian girl forced into marriage with a Muslim man, that God will make the way for their quick release and bring their abusers to justice.
Lord, we thank You and praise You for answering our prayers and bringing forth this law, even in the midst of fierce opposition by Islamic groups. Please have mercy on every woman and girl in Pakistan. Surround them with Your angels and prevent any harm from coming to them. Guard them from abduction, rape, forced conversion and forced marriage. Meet each Hindu and Muslim girl in powerful ways, showing them Your love and Your plan for their salvation. Let them see You are the only One True God, and give them courage to place their faith in Jesus. Rescue Muskan, Jessica, Fairy and all Christian girls forced into Islam and abusive relationship with Muslim men. Bring Arsalan Ali, Azeem Ullah, and Muhammad Asad and every lustful, violent offender to justice, but most of all to salvation. Block them from harming girls or women. Force them to let them go, and even to return them to their homes. Invade each abuser’s dreams with such vivid scenes of Jesus calling him, he will drop his false religion, repent of his horrific crimes and follow You. Light the fire under police to verify the birthdate of each girl who has already been forced into marriage and prosecute their false husbands not only for marrying a minor, but for abduction, terrorism, forced conversion and rape. Grip every Muslim around them with such hatred for evil, they will turn these violent offenders in to the police, raid the location where they are holding Christian girls against their will, rescue them, get them safely home, but also seek You with all their hearts and find You. Heal these girls’ minds, hearts and bodies. Give families and lawyers wisdom to know what to do to bring them home. Connect them with officials sympathetic to their cause. Tear down every wall. Hear our prayers, and surround every woman and girl in Pakistan with Your angels. Keep them from abduction and harm. Ground every Pakistani Christian in truth, faith and love. Provide for all their needs. Heal all their sicknesses. Show Yourself strong on behalf of those who love You. When they pray, answer them, Lord. Even with miracles. Draw the lost around them to You like moths to a flame. Use Christian families to shine Your light so brightly, everyone will see the fruit of Your Spirit in them (Galatians 5:22-23) and know You are the One they’ve been longing for. Bring about a great movement of Your Spirit in Pakistan, with millions turning to faith in Christ. Yes, pour out Your love on every household and awaken every Muslim in every one of the 844 unreached people groups to You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
