Christians Face Death, Violence in Pakistan

On March 21 in Sheikhupura District, Punjab, Muslim Zohaib Iftikhar slashed the throat of Christian co-worker Waqas Masih, accusing him of touching an Islamic textbook with “unclean” hands. Waqas, 22, courageously fought back despite massive bleeding from his jugular. Prior to the event, Zohaib had tried on many occasions to convince Waqas to convert to Islam, but he refused. Lord, please comfort Kashif’s family. Rescue Arsalan from prison and clear him of all charges. Heal Waqas’ mind and body. Please protect these families and all Christians in Pakistan from harm. Empower them to forgive and show love such as no Muslim in those areas have seen. Speak through them, love through them in such powerful ways Muslims all around them will drop what they have been holding onto and reach for You, Jesus, instead. Give them favor with police, judges, neighbors and coworkers. Provide the way for Malik, Zohaib and all Muslims bent on evil and violence to be charged with their crimes and placed in jail so they will not harm others. Visit them in their dreams at night and show them their need for a Savior. Talk to them throughout the day and give them visions that lead them to repentance. Break the chains that bind them to false religion and demons of violence, and grip them with remorse for their sin and persecution against Your people, the way that You gripped Paul in Acts 9 for the murders of so many Christians and then transformed his heart to follow You with a passion, lead many lost to faith and build Your church. Lift the veil from these persecutors’ eyes and unstop their ears so they will see You as You truly are and hear Your voice calling them to salvation. Ruin everything they trust in; give them no peace until they fall to their knees in fear of You and repentance. Use the mothers, the sisters, the wives in their lives to pressure them into change. Bury them beneath such a burden of guilt they can no longer bear it. Then move them to ask questions about Christ, to seek You and find You. Shine Your light into their darkness so brightly that they and all around them will hunger and thirst for You. Out of these terrible tragedies, Lord, we ask You to bring forth eternal good. Lead the lost to faith, grow the faith of the saved strong. Build Your kingdom in these communities, drawing every heart to Yourself. Grow Your church in Pakistan. For every Christian who is persecuted or martyred, bring 1,000 Muslims to faith in Christ. Lord, so many Pakistanis have never heard Your good news because Islam forbids them to convert. But where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. Set the peoples of Pakistan free to seek Truth with all their hearts and find You. John 14:6. In Your name, Jesus. Amen.
