Pakistan is more than 96 percent Muslim and presently ranks the eighth most dangerous country for Christians on Open Doors’ World Watchlist. In the midst of terrible persecution, praise God for how He is moving to protect believers, clear the names of Christians falsely accused, and bring justice to murderers. Let’s pray through each of these situations:
Chad Shamaun, Christian father of two, was arrested last year on false charges of threatening to desecrate the Quran, a crime punishable with up to ten years in prison. But on May 10 this year, a judge acquitted him. (May 13, CDI-MSN)
Thank You, Lord, for fighting for Chad and freeing him from these charges. Please be a Shield around his family and protect them from any more persecution. Empower him to forgive his persecutor and any authorities who mistreated him. Heal his mind and heart from flashbacks and fear. Deepen his faith, and use him and his family to shine Your light so brightly in his community, many Muslims will come to faith in Jesus.
Gunmen robbed Catholic Adnan Masih, a poor brick kiln worker, and then gang-raped his wife. Police registered the case but did nothing, until news broke out on national electronic media. Within one day, the police arrested all three assailants. (April 2, CDI-MSN)
O God, please have mercy. Be a Shield around Your children and protect them from such terrible violence. Bring to justice Adnan and his wife’s three assailants. Meet them in their dreams. Strike them with fear of the Lord. Bring them to their knees in remorse and repentance. Give them a hunger for Your love. And save them. Heal Adnan and his wife’s hearts, minds and bodies. Cover over that memory with Your love, and set them free from flashbacks and other effects of trauma. Draw them all the closer together to each other and to You. Provide for all their needs. Deepen their faith and knowledge of Your Word. Strengthen their love. Give them grace to forgive. And use them as a light to the lost in their community.
Muslim Muhammad Zubair was sentenced to death in March this year for murdering Christian Farhan Ul Qamar in 2023. (March 31, Christian Daily International-Morning Star News)
Lord, please comfort Farhan’s family. Surround them with Your love and give them courage to forgive Muhammad. Empower them to shine Your light in the midst of such terrible darkness. Meet every member of Muhammad’s family and community in their dreams, and Muhammad as well, if the execution has not yet happened. Lift the veil from their eyes so they will see You as You truly are. Break the chains that bind them to the horrors of Islam and give them a hunger for the love of Jesus so strong they will seek You with all their hearts and find You.
Two masked men attempted to set fire to Bethaniya Pentecostal Church in Gulshan Basti, Punjab, last month, but Pastor Tanveer Boota awakened to the noises and prevented it. (April 9, CDI-MSN)
Thank You, Lord, for awakening Pastor Tanveer, and also for protecting him. Give these two men such a hunger for You they will seek You with all their hearts and find you. Visit them in their dreams. Grip them with fear of the Lord. And move them to return to the church, apologize to the pastor, and ask how they can know Jesus.
