Miracle Birth in India

Join us for the International Day for the Unreached on Pentecost Sunday, June 8, 2025.

India is one of the most dangerous countries in the world for those who follow Jesus. But the couple in this story courageously chose Him, even at great cost. (Their names and photos are withheld for their protection.) As you read, pray for believers sharing Christ among the unreached, and for God to move all the mightier to turn all eyes to Him.

Doctors ran tests and told an Indian couple, barren for eight years, they would never have children. In the midst of their suffering, they heard about Jesus and chose to follow Him, as did the husband’s father.

But the wife’s parents severed relationship with her, and other family members and neighbors also rejected the couple: “You gave up your gods for Jesus,” they mocked, “and what have you gained? You still have no children. Just give it up. Leave this faith.”

“No matter what happens, we will not deny Jesus,” the couple replied. With humble hearts, they continued seeking God—praying for His mercy, growing daily in their knowledge of Him through His Word, and faithfully sharing the gospel with others.

Then, in His perfect time, God gave them a daughter. In fact, a little more than a week ago, believers gathered in their home to celebrate her life with rejoicing and dancing. Family members and others who had mocked and rejected the couple also came to see the baby girl.

Now, no one dares oppose them for their faith. What medicine had declared impossible, God made possible.

The new father asks that we join him in prayer for the families who came to celebrate—that their hearts would be opened to the gospel. He is praying for the opportunity to begin Bible studies in their homes, and that many will come to know the God who makes the impossible possible.

Lord, we thank You for this beautiful testimony of faith, and for the way You showed Yourself strong. Now that all in that community have seen Your faithfulness, stir their hearts with a hunger for Truth. Give every family member, neighbor, and even those beyond this community who hear of their story courage to lay down their false gods and follow the One True God. Give them dreams and visions of Jesus calling them to salvation. When they pray, answer them in powerful ways. Invade their homes with Your angels, fighting for their hearts. Break the chains that have bound them to demons, and set them free to know the only One who saves. Protect this couple and their family. Continue to grow them in faith, knowledge of the Word, wisdom and love. Raise up their daughter to love You with all her heart. Use them and all those who come to faith through their witness as shining lights all throughout the region, planting churches and bringing hundreds to Christ. Awaken India to Your love, O God. Move across that land so powerfully, every corner is reached with the Gospel, every language has the Bible, and every life is touched by the power of Your love and grace. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
