What battles do you see our nation and families going through?
“Be strong and take heart, all you who hope in the Lord.”
Psalm 31:24 NIV
Lord, please get up in our face. Invade our space. Show Yourself strong. Overwhelm us with Your beauty. Sway us by Your grace. Woo us with Your love. Give us Your instructions and the courage to carry them out. And transform us. Give us such a hunger for You that we each seek You to guide us. Give us courage, Lord, to surrender all our opinions, ideas, hopes, fears, and needs over to You. This nation is not like Sodom and Gomorrah, nor is it like the world in Noah’s time. For there are not just one or two people who are Yours. Many, O Lord, are those who are blessed to follow You. And we are in every city all throughout this nation. As we cry out to You in one voice, hear us, O Lord, and come to our rescue. Restore to this nation what is right and good and holy. Save and set free each tormented, bitter soul, until the hearts of this nation beat as one for God Almighty and for Your kingdom. Rebuild our families. Renew our hope. Restore our joy, our peace, and especially our love. Awaken us to Your love. Pour it out over us and transform us with Your grace. We need You.
Lord, the issues we have faced begin within the heart. Don’t let fear or anger rule over us such that me and my opinions are a part of the problem. Show us how to lay our thoughts at Your feet, and instead of slandering those we think are the problem, remind us to pray for them. Set us free from our strongholds, especially me. With Your truth, topple the lies we’ve been clinging to that have excused our sin far too long. Draw us up onto Your shoulders to see our sin from Your perspective. Make us hate it so much, hate what it does to our relationship with You and to others, we never want to return to it again. Father, there are sins and wrong thought processes with such a strong hold on us, we allow them to control our reactions and choices, rather than Your Spirit. Please forgive us. Take our hand and lift us up out of the ruts we’ve been stuck in, so we can begin new habits of listening to Your voice, following Your lead, and doing all things in Your empowering, as one with You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
