Tensions are high these days. It’s easy to take your anger out on those you love. Please don’t do it. They are not your enemy. Nor is that person you’re so angry about and all those whose opinions differ from yours.
You do most definitely have an enemy. But if you’ve been lashing out at humans, you’re fighting for your enemy, not against him. You’re fighting on the wrong side. See Ephesians 6:10-20, especially verse 12.
Stop the slander. Stop the heated speeches about your current opinion. And lay your opinions at Jesus’ feet. Ask Him how He sees that person or situation and PRAY for them. Philippians 4:4-9, 1 Timothy 2:1-8, 22-26.
There is a way through this, and it’s on your knees. Only God can see the big picture. Only He can take what the enemy means for evil and turn it around for great good. Genesis 50:20.
Please take the time you need to unplug. Fast from the news or whatever is causing tension. Remember that most news sources don’t give all the facts and even twist information to manipulate emotions and sway you to their agendas, so humbly admit you may not actually know what you think you know, and stop letting the enemy use you.
If you need help doing that, please come here to the Prayer Wall daily.
The battle we are in is spiritual, not earthly. You must fight it with spiritual weapons, the greatest of which is love. 2 Corinthians 10:3-5, 1 Corinthians 13.
Lord, forgive us for the ways we have fought on the wrong side, spreading bitterness and hatred with slander, rather than praying for those who lead us. 1 Timothy 2:1-8. Help us lay all our opinions and ideas at Your feet, so we can pick up Yours. Remind us daily that this is a spiritual battle that must be fought with spiritual weapons, the greatest of which is LOVE. 2 Corinthians 10:3-5, 1 Corinthians 13.
Teach me to forgive, bless, and lift others up, rather than tearing down. I have been so _______ (bitter, angry, afraid, etc.) about _______ (person or situation). Forgive me, Lord, for _______ (slandering – James 4:11-12; judging – Matthew 7:1-5; not forgiving – Matthew 6:15; or whatever other sin or attitude opposite the fruit of the Spirit has ruled you. Galatians 5:22-23). I’ve been looking with earthly eyes, when I should have been seeking You. What are You doing in midst of all this, Lord? When You look at _______ (person, situation), what do You see? Bring my thoughts in line with Yours and show me how to pray….
Take time to listen, with your thoughts truly surrendered to Him. James 1:19-20, Proverbs 3:5-6, Isaiah 55:6-9, 2 Corinthians 10:3-5. Write in your journal or Bible what you feel God saying, and seek to walk out in love.
