Today at sundown, Passover begins. In Israel and throughout the world, Jewish families will gather for a special Seder feast to commemorate their nation’s miraculous Exodus from Egypt. (Exodus 6-15) As they break unleavened bread, drink wine and speak of salvation, let’s pray they will know the Bread of Life, the perfect Lamb of God who died to set them free.
Father God, as Jews throughout Israel and the world break unleavened bread in celebration of the Passover, reveal to them the One who is the Bread of Life (John 6:35), the One who made the way for their salvation from sin and death. As they worship You and speak of Your greatness, show them Your love and mercy. Make the way for every Jew to hear the Good News that their Messiah has come. Jesus healed the sick, calmed the storm, raised the dead, fed more than 5,000 with just one child’s lunch, and performed so many other miracles, but still they did not believe. Their prophets spoke of Him and they yearned for His coming, but when He came, they nailed their Messiah to the cross to die a criminal’s death. Three days later He rose again. Tonight, Lord, and throughout the coming week, visit every Jew in their dreams and speak clearly to them in their waking hours. Open Scripture to show them the Christ, their Messiah, the One they’ve been waiting for, has come. Draw them with Your lovingkindness and meet them in such powerful ways they will at last believe and be saved. Put a New Testament in the hands of every Jew and reveal to them how Your Son fulfilled every one of the prophecies of their Messiah. Give them a longing to know Him, and bring loving Christians into their path to show them the difference knowing Christ makes in our lives. Draw this people once Your people back up into Your arms and save them. Touch the heart of every Jew, lift the veil from their eyes so they can see who You truly are, and open their arms wide to receive Your free gift of salvation. Awaken all of Israel to You, Lord Jesus. Write their names in the Lamb’s Book of Life and save them. (Revelation 21) In Your name, Amen.
