USA: At least 23 have died in heavy rains, storms and floods throughout the South and Midwest over the last several days, including 10 in Tennessee; two in Kentucky; two in Georgia; a fire chief and a volunteer firefighter in Missouri; a 5-year-old boy in Arkansas; one man in Indiana; and a woman caught in a tornado in Mississippi.
CONGO (DRC): More than 33 have died in heavy floods in Kinshasa since Friday.
MYANMAR: The death toll from the recent 7.7 magnitude earthquake has now exceeded 3,564, with 5,012 injured and 210 missing. Aftershocks continue, including a 4.9 magnitude earthquake last weekend. A 20-day ceasefire from the brutal civil war was called on April 2, but attacks by the military have continued.
Father, please have mercy. Comfort those who mourn. Heal the wounded. Rescue those who are trapped. When they cry out to You, answer them in mighty ways so they know it is You. Provide shelter, food and clean water for those who have been displaced and others who are in need. Bring Christians quickly to their aid to show them Your love and to share Your Good News with the lost. Give every person affected by these floods such a hunger for You they will seek You with all their hearts and find You. Bless Christians so abundantly they will gladly share of their provisions with those in need and use the opportunity to gently lift those who are hurting up into Your arms so You can carry them through this hard time. Father, in two of these countries, terrorists have persecuted Christians. Please use this time of need and suffering to turn their hearts from violence to humbly seek You. May they see Your love in the Christians who are sharing of their possessions with others, and feel drawn to You at last. Tear down every barrier. Lift the veil from their eyes so they can see You as You truly are and surrender to You. Awaken these nations to You, O God. Awaken the lost to Your salvation, and those who are saved to more and more of Your love flowing through them. Multiply Your church by the thousands, and bring about worldwide revival. Awaken every heart to the wonders of Your love. Bring from out of this tragedy something good and for Your glory. As You rebuild the nations after the floods, and provide for those in need, may Your name be praised in every home and village. In Your name, Jesus. Amen.
