SYRIA: A car bomb killed 19 women and one man, and injured another 15 women on Monday, when it exploded next to a vehicle carrying agricultural workers. This is the seventh car bombing in Manbij in over a month.
DRC: Rebel groups declared a ceasefire for humanitarian purposes, which began yesterday, after nearly 1,000 deaths and close to 3,000 injuries over the past few days in the M23 capture of Goma.
AUSTRALIA: Monsoon rains caused two deaths amidst heavy flooding in Queensland.
GREECE: Undersea tremors and small earthquakes around the island of Santorini have led to the evacuation of thousands.
Lord, please awaken every heart in each of these countries and situations to Your love. So much danger, death and instability reminds us of humanity’s desperate need for You. Please rescue those in danger, comfort those who grieve, and speak to the hearts of those who are afraid or hurting. Touch each heart in such personal ways they will realize You are the One they long for. When they cry out to You, answer them in a way they will recognize it is You. Give the lost a hunger for peace, meaning, acceptance and love; and then satisfy them with Your felt presence. Bring Christians to them to show them Your love, care for their needs and share the good news of Your salvation. Bless Your people abundantly so they will also abundantly share with those in need around them. Bring Christian counselors, medical workers and other aid workers to those in need. And set the captives free. Lift the veil from the eyes of the lost so they will see You as You truly are and surrender their hearts to You as Savior. In the midst of every trial and tragedy, push back the enemy’s purposes, and bring forth Yours. Convince us of Your truth. Let us feel Your love like never before. And bring forth Your Kingdom. Yes, Lord, awaken the whole Earth to Your salvation. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
