Three Plane Crashes in Three Days, One Survivor

A passenger plane carrying 64 people collided with a U.S. Army Blackhawk helicopter carrying three Wednesday night. Both plunged into the Potomac River near Washington, D.C., leaving no survivors. Among those who died were young figure skaters who attended a national development camp in Wichita, Kansas, following the U.S. Figure Skating Championships.

Also on Wednesday, a plane chartered by Greater Pioneer Operating Company crashed in northern South Sudan soon after takeoff. Only one person survived, a South Sudanese oilfield engineer. All 21 passengers, including two Chinese and one Indian, were employees of GPOC, a consortium which includes Chinese and Sudanese petroleum companies.

Then on Friday, just a minute after takeoff, a medical jet carrying a child, her mother and four crew members, all from Mexico, crashed in Northeast Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The explosion killed at least seven and injured 19. The child had been treated in Philadelphia and was on her way back home to Mexico.

Lord, please heal this survivor and comfort the families and loved ones of all who have died. Meet them as they awaken in the night and all through the day, comforting them with Your love. Speak to them in ways that they know it’s You, and draw them to Yourself. For those who don’t yet know You, give them a pressing hunger, a longing for something more than what they’ve been living for, and show them the way to salvation. Those in South Sudan, China and India who are mourning, including the survivor, have likely never heard the good news about Your love. Please meet them in their dreams, bring Christians to them to love them and show them Jesus, connect them on the internet with churches and websites where they can hear the gospel in a way they can easily understand, and save them, Lord. Lift the veil from their eyes so they can see You as You truly are. Give them courage to drop their trust in Islam, Communism or Hinduism, and seek You as the One and Only God, the Truth who sets them free. In Your name, Jesus. Amen.
