(Updated January 29) Tens of thousands of internally displaced Palestinians have returned to their demolished homes in northern GAZA, now that Hamas has agreed to comply with some portions of the ceasefire they broke last weekend. They freed four soldiers last Sunday instead of civilians Arbel Yehud, Shiri Bibas and her two infant sons, Ariel and Kfir. Under the ceasefire, civilians must be released before soldiers.
Hamas also did not provide ISRAEL with a hostage status list of who is alive or dead. In the now-given list of the remaining 26 captives to be released in the first phase, only 18 are alive. Arbel is scheduled to be released tomorrow, along with Gadi Mozes, female soldier Agam Berger and five Thai nationals.
In exchange for each civilian hostage, Israel will free 30 Palestinian prisoners, and 50 for Agam, including 30 terrorists serving life sentences.
To pray by name for the 26 to be released and all remaining hostages, see our Israel-Gaza page. Please pray also for the thousands of Palestinians who have returned home to find nothing but rubble. Pray God will supply their needs in a way that causes them to lay down their Islamic religion of hatred and violence and seek Truth until they find Him and are saved. John 14:6, 8:31-32.
Meanwhile, certain agreements in the ceasefire with Hezbollah have not been met. Israel awaits Lebanese Army occupation in the south to prevent Hezbollah from rebuilding there, while the Army awaits Israel’s withdrawal before occupying. Hence, the date for Israel’s troops to recede from southern LEBANON has extended now to February 18.
Israel’s derailing of the Iran-backed Hezbollah terrorist group paved the way for Lebanon to elect a Maronite Christian President. Pray for him as he seeks to rebuild the country after years of pressure from terrorists and devastating financial and other crises.
