Deadly Earthquake Shakes Tibet and Nepal

More than 126 died and at least 188 were injured in a powerful 7.1-magnitude earthquake that hit a remote area of Tibet, China, yesterday, shaking Mt. Everest’s base camp, Nepal and India.

Most of the Tibetan peoples are still unreached with the gospel. Divided into nearly 100 different people groups, they speak dozens of languages. Although thousands of Tibetans have moved to the USA and Europe, most are clustered in and around the Himalayas in countries like China, Nepal, India, Bhutan, and Myanmar, where Christians are persecuted and blocked from freely sharing the good news about Christ.

Portions of the Bible have been translated into some of their languages, but bound up by the spiritism and idolatry of Buddhism, most Tibetans still live in darkness without knowing the light of Christ.

Lord, please protect and rescue those who are trapped, comfort those who mourn and heal those who are wounded. Let them feel You near. Speak to them in ways they will know it is You, and draw them into Your arms of love. Father, Nepal and China have endured so many hardships of late. They are still recovering from other earthquakes in recent years. So many people live in fear, bound by evil spirits they venerate, not knowing of Your love and salvation. High mountains, restrictions against sharing Christ, persecution, illiteracy, pressures of family, culture and more have built barriers against the gospel. Please, Lord, tear those barriers down. Push through the darkness with Your light. March Your angel armies into every Tibetan home and awaken every heart to You. Lift the veil from their eyes so they can see You as You truly are. Give every person of every Tibetan tribe and language a deep hunger for You, and then reveal Yourself to them in such a powerful way that they can clearly understand and receive Your plan for their salvation. O God, please have mercy. Deliver them from evil. Speak in such a way the cloud of darkness that has covered minds and hearts is lifted and chains to sin and idols are broken, so they can know You as their Savior, Healer, Comforter, God of Love and Compassion, Prince of Peace. Grow Your church in this region like never before. Topple every way the enemy has set out to kill, steal, oppress and destroy, and offer abundant life through Christ to every Tibetan in a way they can easily understand. John 10:10, 14:6. Cast out fear with Your perfect love, and save them. In the holy name of Jesus. Amen
