MONTENEGRO: Ten people died, including two children, and four others were seriously wounded on New Year’s Day in a mass shooting in Cetinje.
USA: Three women died and more than 20 people were injured, several of them critically, in an explosion in Honolulu, Hawaii, caused by a large New Year’s firework falling over.
USA: A suicide bombing in Las Vegas, Nevada, on Wednesday wounded six and killed the driver, who blew up a cybertruck in front of the Trump International Hotel. He leaves behind a wife and an eight-month-old daughter.
USA: A terrorist killed 15 and injured more than 35 in New Orleans. (See Thursday’s post.)
UKRAINE: In an overnight drone attack, RUSSIA killed one person and injured six, including a pregnant woman, in Kyiv at the turn of the New Year.
GAZA: Dozens died and many were injured as the New Year began with ISRAEL’s continued offensive against Hamas.
Lord, we ask for Your mercy for those who are wounded and suffering. Save their lives. Heal their bodies, minds and hearts. Comfort them and all those who mourn the loss of loved ones in each of these tragic circumstances. Meet the lost in such powerful ways they surrender their lives to follow You. Give them a hunger to know You, and bring Christians to them to counsel, help and share Your love. We ask You, Lord, to triumph over the enemy in our nation and in this world this year. Set us free from whatever holds us back from more of You. Awaken us to Your love. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
