The death toll from Cyclone Chido, which tore through MAYOTTE over a week ago, has risen to 35 there, but could potentially be more than 1,000, with more than 1.500 injured, and tens of thousands without water, electricity or phone service. In MOZAMBIQUE, the death toll is at least 94 (most in Cabo Delgado), with more than 760 injured, and more than 622,000 people affected. In MALAWI, at least 7 have died and more than 45,000 have been affected.

A total of 67 died in three separate crowd crushes over the past few days in NIGERIA. More than 35 children died and six others were injured at a funfair event last Wednesday in Ibadan. Then on Saturday, two more crowd crushes happened at food distribution events to help the needy, one in Anambra state, killing 22 women and children; and another in Abuja city in a church, where 10 died.

Father, please have mercy. Heal the wounded, comfort the grieving, rescue those in danger and provide for those in need in such a way they will know it is You. Give every person grieving or otherwise affected by each of these situations above a deep hunger for You. Meet them in their dreams, talk to them throughout the day, and when they cry out to You for help, answer them, O Lord. Bring Christians into their path to powerfully show them Your love and preach the Gospel. Answer every prayer like only You can. Lift the veil from the eyes of the lost so they will see You as You truly are, and give them courage to believe. Be a Shield around every Christian in these countries, protecting them from persecution and harm. Build their faith, knowledge, and understanding of Your Word. But especially build them in love. Show them ways they can reach out to their neighbors in this time of need. Make Christians a safe place where people know they can go for kindness, protection and help. Empower believers to share Your Good News in a way the lost can easily understand, and save whole families and villages by Your grace. We ask especially for those responsible for harm and murder. Break the chains that bind them to enemy purposes, and set them free to see You as You truly are, hear Your good news and be saved.
