VANUATU: At least 14 have died, and more than 200 were injured in a 7.3 magnitude earthquake Tuesday.
Lord, please wrap Your arms around those who are mourning losses in Vanuatu. When they cry out to You, hear them and answer. Bless Christians abundantly so they will also abundantly bless others and share Your good news with the lost. Open the doors of churches to provide shelter and other provisions for those in need. Cast out fear with Your perfect love, and awaken every heart to You.
GEORGIA: A Georgian and 11 Indian employees at a restaurant in a Caucasus Mountains ski resort died of carbon monoxide poisoning last weekend.
Father God, as the families of these who died mourn, please meet them in powerful ways and show them clearly Your plan for salvation. Draw them to Yourself so strongly, they will leave their worship of false gods and follow You alone.
NIGERIA: In clashes between the United Methodist Church and the breakaway Global Methodist Church on Sunday, Elisha Mason, 27, brother of a UMC lay leader, was shot and killed, and the homes of at least 11 UM church members were set ablaze, injuring 10 and killing two toddlers, ages 4 and 2, the children of Abraham Kefas, overseer of a UMC nursery and primary school.
Lord, please heal those who are wounded, comfort those who mourn, and empower those on both sides to forgive one another and seek reconciliation Your way. Bring forth from this terrible tragedy great good. Where clashes over money, control, theology, same sex marriages and other issues have caused dissension among Methodists, please clearly define so that all know what sin is. Call every heart to repentance and remind them what this life is for. Call them back to You.
ISRAEL-GAZA: Hostage and ceasefire negotiators are hopeful an agreement between Israel and Hamas could be reached in days or weeks.
God of Israel, please bring home the hostages and end this war. But most of all, we ask You to make Your way of salvation clear to every Israeli and Palestinian. Move them so powerfully with hunger for Truth that they will drop their weapons of war, seek You with all their heart and surrender to the One who gave His life so they can live. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
