CUBA: The energy grid crashed once again, leaving millions in darkness early Wednesday morning in the Communist island still reeling from several hurricanes, an earthquake, water scarcity, and multiple power failures. The power grid has now been restored, but with planned blackouts of five hours a day.
GREECE: Storm Bora brought strong winds and flooding to the city of Thessaloniki and the islands of Rhodes and Lemnos, where two men have died since Saturday.
GEORGIA: Thousands of anti-RUSSIA, pro-EUROPEAN UNION protestors have taken to the streets for many days now, even after violent responses by police.
AFGHANISTAN: Yet another blow to women’s healthcare and eduction was dealt this week, as those training to be midwives and nurses have been ordered not to return to classes. Afghanistan’s maternal mortality rate is already one of the highest in the world.
Lord, please protect and rescue those in danger, heal the wounded, comfort those who mourn and rebuild the lives of all who have lost so much. When they cry out for help, come quickly to their aid and provide for them in such a way they will know You are the One who did that. Give the lost a hunger for Your love so fierce they will seek You with all their hearts. Visit them in their dreams to show them Your salvation through Christ, and bring Christians to love them, care for their needs and share with them Your good news. Block every evil attack and bring to their knees in repentance and fear of the Lord all those who are bent on evil. Awaken every heart in each of these nations to Your love and multiply Your church. Raise into positions of leadership those who will open the way for Your gospel to freely be preached to every heart. For only You are the Way, the Truth and the Life, Jesus. Only in You do the nations find the meaning they seek. Only in You do we experience the forgiveness that leads to abundant life here on earth and eternal life in Heaven. Don’t let even one more person die without hearing Your good news. In Your name we pray. Amen.
