Gaza: Air Strike Kills 87, Christians Feed Thousands

An airstrike on several multi-story buildings in Beit Lahia, northern Gaza, killed at least 87 and injured more than 40 Saturday.

Gaza is 99% unreached with the gospel. That means the more than 42,000 Palestinians who have died so far in this war most likely never knew the good news about Christ. Let’s pray those who remain will know the Truth before it’s too late, and pray for the Christians who are sharing His love in the midst of such suffering.

A local believer helping Christian Mission to Gaza deliver aid to the hungry said, “Thank the church that helped with bread. People were crying and heartbroken because their children were crying from hunger. Men went out and did not return to the tents because they could not see their children hungry and were unable to provide them with the basics of life. People told me, ‘Thank you because you saved many children from starving to death.’”

Another Christian wrote, “While I was distributing rice, an old man came to me and asked me who the donor was. I told him the church. He said, ‘Thank you to the church and thank you to the Christian brothers who care about us more than our own people.'”

Hanna Massad, the former pastor of Gaza Baptist Church who runs the aid organization providing these meals, said in a recent report: “We are grateful to announce several new initiatives in Gaza to support civilians in dire need. In Khan Younis (South), we have provided around 1,000 meals to civilians. In Jabalia (North), we provided around 500 meals to civilians. In my neighborhood, Remal (Middle/North), we have provided around 700 meals to civilians in the area. We have also continued our water project in the Middle region to provide clean drinking water for desperate civilians. This project is critical in ensuring that people have access to safe and clean water during these challenging times. Your prayers and support are vital, especially during this time.”

In total, since the war began last year, CM2G has passed out 20,000 meals to needy families. Each hot rice meal feeds a family of four and costs $8, while hot rice and chicken meals cost $13.20. They also distributed 10,000 bread packs of five pitas per person or 15 per family. In addition, 6,000 people received about 20 liters of clean water for drinking and other daily use, which they shared among family and friends.

Lord, as great as the people of Gaza’s need is for shelter, food and water, they need You most of all. Please give them a hunger for You so strong they will seek You with all their hearts and find You. Draw the lost into places where Christians are ministering, and make the way for every person to hear Your good news in a way they can easily understand. Thank You for pursuing Muslims in their dreams and drawing them to Yourself. Grip their hearts with the conviction that You are Truth. Give them courage to step away from tradition and choose Christ. Open their eyes to see the atrocities of religion gone wrong and long to know the God who is Love. Bring about a mighty church planting movement that spreads all throughout Gaza and beyond. May thousands come to faith and passionately tell the stories of Your goodness to Muslims all across the Middle East. Protect new believers and all Christians in Gaza from hunger, illness and harm. Foil every plan for evil and rebuild Gaza on Christ’s love. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
