As narratives rage in media these days — some false and some true — and so many with evil intentions vie for control and seem like they’re winning by earthly standards, it’s easy to feel hopeless, like any fight against this present darkness is to no avail.
It is not. There is a stand we are called to take that makes a difference. In our families. In our neighborhoods. In our country and beyond. Prayer is a powerful weapon against the forces of darkness. We have a deep and intimate connection with One in high places, the One who is truly in control. Ephesians 6:10-18.
But there is also another stand He has called us to take, one that is much more public. At the end of tumultuous 2020, the Lord asked me to share with you this word below from His heart for His body. With spiritual and earthly battles already raging for control this year, I felt Him drawing us back to it, so we can pray forward for His body to rise up, take our stand where He has called us and shine in the darkness.
Ephesians 6:10-12, 2 Corinthians 10:3-5, 1 Thessalonians 5:8-11, Romans 8:31-39
Though the empire crumbles around you, stand on love and you will stand.
Remember that your battle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers and authorities of darkness in the spiritual realm.
Your enemy is not a president or a political system or a violent neighbor or someone who votes differently than you. You have a real enemy, but it is not your brother.
So, when I call you to stand up and fight, it is not a war of this world that you fight with manipulation or vicious words or violence, as those who obey the evil one do. For your weapons are not of this world. Rather, they are powered by My Spirit to demolish strongholds and every lofty thought and argument against the knowledge of Me.
On love, you will STAND OUT. For all around you is panic, anxiety, darkness, fear, ungodly agendas, anger, and evil. But in My love you will find PEACE.
When you stand on the Rock, on the One Who is LOVE, you stand tall and high, above the tempest, above the battle, … and you change its course. For this battle is not for your rights or your finances or your health or your children’s. It is for the Kingdom.
So which kingdom will you serve? Will you give way to anxious thoughts as the enemy desires? Or will you wear faith and love as your breastplate, salvation as your helmet, and step out into the stormy battle to point all eyes to Me?
When you stand on Love, when love is what you stand for, you will be more than a conqueror in this fight. Stand on fear and panic, and you will fall. Stand on judgment and attacking others and you will be privy to the enemy’s purposes, you will be fighting on the wrong side. For I have already won the victory on the cross. Your victory is already assured through My sacrifice of love.
So stand tall, My beloved. Standing on Love’s shoulders you will see this battle through a whole new perspective, taking up the weapons that truly win the war.
I love you. You will get through this. For I, your First Love, am on your side. And I NEVER lose. This is how you know all is not lost.
Lord, help us remember we don’t stand alone, that You are with us. Teach us to see through Your eyes and stand for the things You call us to, empowered by Your love.
