What if your tomorrow could be a much better day than your today?
What could you do to open the way for that to happen?
One key the Lord has given me for that is to begin every day with Him. Before I ever open my eyes, before I get out of bed, before I think of all the things I have to do, I think on Jesus, and hand Him my day.
He has full freedom to rearrange my schedule. And then, throughout the day, I talk with Him. “Lord, what are You doing right now?” “Lord, when You look at this person, what do You see?” “Lord, how can I bless my husband today?” “Lord, I can’t do this without You. Will You please show me how to do it in Your empowering?” “Lord, what do You say to what they’re asking me to do? Is this something You want on my schedule?” etc.
After a couple of years of starting my every day by handing it to the Lord, and then following His lead throughout the day, an amazing thing happened. HE began waking me each morning with HIMSELF.
Sometimes He sings over me. Sometimes He awakens me to a dream or a picture from His heart. Sometimes He’s excited, like He can’t wait to show me something in our quiet time. Sometimes He tells me what we’re doing that day. Every morning is different, but I actually stopped using an alarm years ago, because the Maker of Time Himself holds my times in His hands now. Psalm 31:15a.
Lord, what do You want to say over my day today? Show me something I didn’t expect. Surprise me with Your love. Teach me something new I need today or for a future battle. Walk with me throughout the day, guiding me and flowing Your Spirit through me to do more than I could ever think or imagine. Because only through You are all things possible. Remind me of that today. Remind me to think on You, invite You into my every moment, so You can use me any way You desire. Turn my ordinary moments into extraordinary God-moments. Today and every day. In Your name, Jesus. Amen.
