Let’s pray for the presidential debate tonight at 9 p.m. EST, and for all those who will see it, hear about it or report on it.
Lord, as candidates Donald Trump and Kamala Harris talk together tonight, please be Lord over every word and everything that happens. Push back Satan’s purposes and bring forth Yours. Guide conversations in the directions You desire to bring forth the outcome You want, Lord. Expose lies. Show forth what is true. Open the minds of those who watch to see true motives. Spread truth throughout the media, so that the debate is reported on fairly, not trying to sway voters one way or the other, but reporting with all integrity what truly needs to be reported. Cancel and block every evil plot for this election, and allow only what You guide in Your perfect way to bring forth Your perfect purposes. Show forth wisdom in the candidate of Your choice tonight. Move that person to speak about the true issues our country is facing, rather than shooting out cutting remarks. If a candidate is just making promises to sway voters, but has no plan to fulfill those promises, then make those words confusing or misspoken so that the truth comes out. Guide every thought, every word, so that the subjects You want to come to light come forth clearly. For those watching, move our hearts in Your directions. Guide our words as we talk with others. Clean up messes made by corrupt agendas and deceit. Raise up a president who cares about the citizens and about righting what is truly wrong in government, economics, national safety, foreign policy, judicial system, education and all things on Your heart, Lord, so our children’s future is safe; a wise leader who does what is right rather than what pads pockets or pleases those who seek control. Tonight, bring to light what has been hidden, and do it in such a way, all who hear will be appalled at evil and set out to rectify that and bring forth what is right. Lord, we surrender our opinions and ideas down at Your feet and ask You for Yours. Step into every home where the debate is being watched, and show us what You want to show us. Most of all, turn our eyes to You. As we pray, answer us with Your perfect purposes. Bring forth a great awakening in this nation, with every heart turning to You. Make churches bulge with Your purposes and move boldly in Your empowering. Change us, Lord. And change our nation. Show us what it means to love as You first loved us. In Your name, Jesus. Amen.
