Ada Anioma, Christian wife of the attorney general of Nigeria’s Delta state, Peter Mrakpor, was abducted from a Bible study in Asaba July 30. Gunmen killed her driver and a policeman in the attack. (August 1, Christian Daily International-Morning Star News)
Father God, please comfort the families of Ada’s driver and the policeman. Be a Shield around Ada and protect her from harm and abuse. Make the way for her escape or quick release. Use Peter and other caring leaders’ influence to apprehend and deter terrorists from further attacks and to stop the spread of violence.
Praise God, a Roman Catholic priest, Mikah Suleiman, kidnapped on June 22, was released July 7 In northwest Nigeria’s Zamfara state. (July 8, CDI-MSN)
“I want to thank you for your prayers and support towards my rescue,” Mikah said in a video released by the diocese. “By the grace of God, I’m out from the hands of the bandits.”
After so many terrible reports of abductions and murders in Nigeria, thank You, Lord, for the good news of Father Mikah’s release. Please surround him with Your love and peace, and heal his mind and body from trauma. Pursue his abductors with Your relentless love. Bring them to their knees in fear of the Lord and repentance.
Please, Lord, bring an end to the violence in Nigeria. March in Your angel armies and crush the enemy’s plans. Protect believers from persecution and harm, and make the way of escape for every Christian who has been kidnapped or is in danger. For every Christian persecuted and church attacked, bring 1,000 terrorists to faith in You, Jesus, and plant hundreds of new churches. Awaken all of Nigeria to Your love and grace. Bring into positions of authority those who love justice and seek to protect the people of Nigeria and open the way for Your gospel to spread to the lost. In Your name. Amen.
