As we pray for believers sharing Christ at the Olympics today, let’s also pray for people in need of Christ’s love in these nations:
MIDDLE EAST: With ISRAEL‘s assassination of several Hamas and Hezbollah leaders in GAZA, IRAN and LEBANON, as well as strikes against Houthi targets in YEMEN, tension in the Middle East has escalated and expanded. Several other countries fear being pulled into an all-out war.
Lord, please give leaders in every country wisdom to de-escalate this war. Discourage terrorists and religious extremists from evil acts. Break the chains that bind them to violence and false gods. Meet them in their dreams and show them You are the God of love, not violence. Give them a hunger for Truth and the courage to lay down their weapons, seek You with all their hearts and follow the One True God.
NIGERIA: A cost of living crisis sparked protests throughout the country, and several have died in the demonstrations.
Lord, so many are hungry and have no way to care for their families. In the midst of their need, turn their eyes to You. When they call out to You, answer them. Comfort those who mourn the deaths of loved ones. Bring Christians to them to care for them. Bless Christians abundantly and use them to care for the needs of others and share Your love with them. Give the government wisdom to know how to handle this crisis, and bring peace to Nigeria.
CHINA: At least 15 people died in a mudslide that hit a tourist area and homestay house in Hunan Province Sunday.
Lord, please comfort those who mourn. Give them a hunger for You and make a way for them to hear Your good news and be saved. Bring Christians to them to show them Your love.
USA: Close to 100 wildfires burn across the west, the largest in northern California. Others rage in Colorado, Idaho, southeast Montana and north Texas.
Please comfort those who mourn the loss of homes, land and businesses. When they cry out to You, answer them, O God. Bring Christians to them to show them Your love and help them rebuild their lives. Have mercy, please. Bring rain to end the fires.
