Israeli Children Killed in Rocket Attack

Hours after an Israeli airstrike killed three Islamic Hezbollah terrorists in southern Lebanon, a rocket hit a soccer field in Majdal Shams in Israel’s Golan Heights Saturday, killing 12 children and wounding 20 others.

Since the Hamas-Israel war began October 7, Hezbollah has exchanged nearly daily fire with Israel along the Lebanese border. But in recent weeks, such strikes have increased. Leading up to Saturday’s attack, a total of 21 Israeli soldiers and 13 civilians died in air strikes; and 450 people in Lebanon, mostly Hezbollah, but also some 90 civilians. In retaliation for Saturday’s attack, Israel struck several Hezbollah targets Saturday night and Sunday, both deep within Lebanon and in the south. (CBS News, July 28)

Lebanon has been in financial and other crisis for some time now. A war would further devastate the Middle Eastern nation. Unlike Gaza, which is more than 97% Muslim, nearly half of Lebanon’s 5,176,000 people do not follow Islam. In fact, 33% of the population claim to be Christians. A Hezbollah-provoked war with Israel is not something Lebanon wants.

Pray for Israel and Gaza in These Trying Times

Lord, please comfort those who mourn. Heal the minds and hearts of those who survived these attacks, and please bring a quick and right solution to end the war with Hamas and prevent one with Hezbollah. Give both Israeli and Hezbollah authorities wisdom now that things have escalated so far. Guide any further contact and protect the innocent. Convict those on all sides of their sin and their need for salvation. Father, every Hezbollah terrorist needs You. They follow a god they think is You, but violence and evil are not what You do. Give every Muslim in Lebanon a deep yearning to know Love, so they will seek Truth and find Jesus. Bring Christians to them to show them who You are in ways they will understand and receive. Visit every terrorist in their dreams and show them Your way of salvation. Break the chains that bind them to the powers of darkness and set them free too long for the Light of the World. Bring them to their knees in fear of the Lord, and give them courage to lay down their traditions and violence to choose salvation and all that is right and good. Give the governments of Lebanon and Israel wisdom to know how to protect citizens and de-escalate fighting. Father God, so many Israelis, Lebanese and Palestinians have died without knowing Your good news. Please make the way for every person to hear the gospel in a way they can easily understand before it’s too late. Bring Christians to the lost to show them Your love. Be a Shield around every believer during this difficult time. Provide for all their needs so abundantly they will also help others in need. Use them to bring many people to faith in You. Awaken Lebanon and Israel to Your love, O God. Lift the veil from the eyes of every Jew and Muslim, so they can see Jesus as He truly is. In His great name we pray. Amen.
