USA: Hurricane Beryl left about two million without power in Texas during dangerously high temperatures, and killed one in Louisiana and six in Texas, adding to the death toll of at least 11 in the Caribbean. US states in its northeasterly pathway now face heavy rain and flooding.
Meanwhile, heatwaves have caused at least four deaths in the Portland, Oregon area, and one in Death Valley, California, where temperatures reached 131F on Sunday. Wildfires have eaten tens of thousands of acres in California, Utah and other areas.
UKRAINE: Russian missiles rained down on several cities Monday, killing at least 42 people, including at least two in a children’s hospital in Kyiv, where about 50 were injured.
INDONESIA: A landslide hit an unauthorized gold mining area in Sulawesi on Sunday, killing at least 23 people. Perhaps 35 are still missing. Nearly 300 houses were damaged, and more than 1,000 people fled seeking safety.
ISRAEL-GAZA: Hezbollah rockets from LEBANON killed two Israeli civilians and injured an American in northern Israel. As Israel continues to hit Hamas targets in Gaza, dozens of Palestinians have been killed over the past few days, and aid is still having trouble reaching those in need. Let’s continue to pray for those suffering on both sides, for Christians harboring in Gaza City, and for the Israeli hostages still in captivity.
Loving Father, please rescue those who are trapped, heal those who are injured, comfort those who mourn, provide for those in need, and rebuild the lives and homes of those who have lost so much. Do all these things in such a way that they will know You are the One who did that. When they cry out to You, answer them. Protect the children, heal hurting hearts and provide safe shelter, electricity, food and water for those without. Place within every soul a deep thirst for You. Remove every barrier that has kept them from salvation and give them courage to choose You as their Lord. Bring loving Christians to them to share Your Good News. For Christians who are homeless now or who have lost loved ones, please carry them through this difficult time like only You can. Renew their strength and empower them to encourage others around them who are also hurting, offering them hope, a safe shoulder to cry on, and the way to salvation. Bless Christians so abundantly they will also abundantly bless others in need, as they share Your Good News with the lost. Bring forth a mighty movement of Your Spirit all across each of these areas, leading thousands to faith in You. Open the eyes of the spiritually blind to see You as You truly are, and awaken every heart to Your love. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
