Christian Mom Tortured for Her Faith in Pakistan

A 20-year-old Catholic mother of a two toddlers in Okara District, Punjab, Pakistan, was abducted at gunpoint from her father’s home April 17 by five Muslims, Ali Raza, Muhammad Irshaad, Riaz Ahmed, Muhammad Imran and one unidentified person. She was raped and tortured multiple times to force her into marrying Ali, renouncing her faith, and converting to Islam; but she refused. Eventually, they took her to a faraway city and left her there, dazed, alone and with no money. A Muslim woman, Shumaila Bibi, had compassion on her and took her in, helping her heal, while the victim’s father raised money for bus fare to pick her up and bring her home. He registered a case against Ali and his accomplices, but they denied the abduction and were able to obtain pre-arrest bail. (Christian Daily International-Morning Star News, June 13)

Sadly, this case is not unique. Many Christian women, especially young girls, in Pakistan and other Muslim countries face kidnapping and forced marriage to Muslim men. Most of the victims fall between the ages of 14 and 18, but the second highest number are below the age of 14.

Father God, please have mercy on this precious mother who has suffered greatly for her faith. Thank You that she never renounced her faith, even when tortured. Please now wrap Your arms around her and heal her mind and body. Set her free from rage, fear, depression, hopelessness, anxiety, PTSD and any other effects from the terrible trial she endured. Give her husband deep compassion, kindness and understanding for her, and draw them closer together both with You and with each other. Pour Your love out over them, their two small children, her parents, and all their family. Build them strong in faith, love and unity. Grant them grace to forgive. Hide them from those who seek to do them harm. Provide for all their needs, bless them abundantly, and take them to a place where they will be safe and can heal. Shine Your love through them in such powerful ways many Muslims will turn to faith.

Lord, we thank You for Shumaila, that even though she is Muslim, she showed such compassion for this hurting Christian. Please pour out Your love and mercy on her. Make the way for her to hear Your good news. Open her heart to receive the Truth, and save her. Give her such a hunger for You she will seek out Christians in her city, make lasting friendships with them, give her heart and life completely to You, and become a catalyst for many more Muslims in her city to come to You.

Please fight for this Christian mom and her family. Raise up police officers, lawyers, judges, concerned citizens and others who will bring forth justice in this case. Convict Ali Raza, Muhammad Irshaad, Riaz Ahmed, Muhammad Imran and the other assailant of their horrible crimes. Don’t let them continue on in their sin. Break the chains that bind them to the evil one, and set them free to hunger and thirst for Love and Truth. Fill them with remorse for what they have done, and bring them to their knees in fear of the Lord. Invade their dreams at night and give them visions of Jesus calling them. Lift the veil from their eyes so they will see You as You truly are. Break them, until all that is left is their desperate need for You. Then, O Lord, through Your marvelous grace, offer them salvation through Christ.

Lord, please protect all Christian women in Pakistan. Assign Your angels to surround them and shield them from assault and abuse. Give them godly husbands who love both You and their wives and families with all their heart. Plant throughout Pakistan Christian families that shine so brightly for You in the midst of such terrible darkness that thousands of Muslims, and even Hindus, will turn to You and be saved. For every Christian tortured for their faith, convert 100 Muslims to choose Christ and follow You fervently all the days of their lives.
