A Hot and Deadly Summer

Up to 448 people have died from intense heat in INDIA since March, and more than 40,000 cases of heatstroke have been reported in recent days, with temperatures over 100F on a constant basis.

Most vulnerable to heat exhaustion (dizziness, headaches, shaking, thirst) are those without electricity, such as the homeless and poor. If temperatures don’t fall sufficiently to cool them at night and the body’s core temperature rises above 40.6C (105F) heatstroke can set in, which can lead to death. One woman who died in India had a core temperature of 110F. Children, the ill and the elderly are most at risk of heatstroke.

In SAUDI ARABIA, the count is now over 1,300 for Muslims who died in last week’s hajj heatwave. Up to 100 of those were pilgrims from India, and more than 600 from Egypt. See more here:

In MEXICO more than 150 have died from heat exposure.

About nine have died in GREECE, most of those tourists over 60. Greece, TURKEY, PORTUGAL, ALGERIA and areas in-between have also been battling wildfires in the soaring temperatures.

Meanwhile, blackouts have engulfed the Balkan nations of ALBANIA, MONTENEGRO, BOSNIA and HERZEGOVINA, as well as the coast of CROATIA, likely due to high levels of electricity used to cool down in the intense heat.

And CHINA has recorded more than 56 deaths and nearly 25,000 cases of heatstroke. Read more here:

Now, it’s the USA‘s turn to face record-breaking temperatures, with humidity causing heat index values as high as the mid-100s. Six have died in Arizona and two in Idaho. Wildfires in New Mexico have killed two, burned more than 23,000 acres, and destroyed more than 500 homes.

Lord, please have mercy on the millions who are suffering or in danger now because of extreme temperatures. Wrap Your arms around them and cool them down. Help them sleep at night. Give them dreams and visions that point them to You. So many in these countries, especially the masses of Muslims and the Hindus, have never heard the good news. Bring Christians to them, Lord, to offer a cup of cool water, places of shelter, medical care and other provisions to help the needy. Use them to shine Your love and share the gospel. Bring rain to cool down the days and nights. But as monsoon season arrives in India and hurricane season and other severe weather in the US and beyond, please watch over crops and homes. Guard them from flooding and destruction. Wherever people suffer, give them a thirst for You, O God. Pursue them with Your love. May they seek You with all their hearts and find You. Bring Your good news to them in a way they can easily understand, and save them, Lord. Break the chains that bind them to false religions, and set them free with Your truth. When they seek shelter, when they look for help, let them find You. For You are our Shelter. You are our Help in time of need. Be a loving Father to the millions who are struggling. Meet firefighters as they fight the flames, and families as they mourn losses. Cause every heart to cry out to You, O God, and answer them tenderly with Your love. Guide them to a place of safety where they will meet those who can share with them about Your grace, love and salvation. We speak LIFE over the nations now, and HOP, in the name of Jesus. Awaken India, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Mexico, Greece, China, Portugal, Algeria, the Balkans, the USA and every nation to Your love. Don’t let even one more person thirst without meeting the One who is Living Water. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
