KUWAIT: A fire in a residential building housing foreign workers killed about 50 people Wednesday; 45 of them were Indian.
INDIA: At least nine people died and 33 were injured in a terrorist attack on Hindu pilgrims in Kashmir’s Jammu Province Sunday. Two more attacks followed in the same area on Tuesday, killing one civilian and injuring six others.
Meanwhile, India’s extended heatwave of temperatures remaining at 45-50C (113-122F) for weeks, killed 18 polling officials this month during the final phase of general elections in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, and eight people in Odisha this past weekend. Prior to that, at least 60 heat-related deaths were reported between March and May.
DRC: As fighting spreads, more than 7 million people are now internally displaced. Children continue to suffer murder, abduction and recruitment into armed groups.
HAITI: Praise God, humanitarian aid has made it to nearly 93,000 needy people in Cité Soleil. These past few days, a new Haitian government, as well as a multinational security force have taken shape, bringing hope to weary citizens that the violent gang wars could soon end.
MALAWI: Vice President Saulos Chilima and nine other passengers died in a plane crash in the Chikangawa Forest.
ISRAEL: The Muslim terrorist group Hezbollah launched more than 200 rockets, missiles and drones at northern Israel, including Tiberius and Upper Galilee, from Lebanon Wednesday, the largest cross-border attack so far in recent fighting. No injuries resulted, praise God.
USA: Severe flooding continues today in Fort Lauderdale and other parts of Florida.
Lord, please protect and rescue those in danger, heal the wounded, comfort those who mourn and rebuild the lives of all who have lost so much. When they cry out for help, come quickly to their aid and provide for them in such a way they will know You are the One who did that. Give the lost a hunger for Your love so fierce they will seek You with all their hearts. Visit them in their dreams to show them Your salvation through Christ, and bring Christians to love them, care for their needs and share with them Your good news. Block every evil attack and bring to their knees in repentance and fear of the Lord all those who are bent on evil. Awaken every heart in each of these nations to Your love and multiply Your church. Raise into positions of leadership those who will open the way for Your gospel to freely be preached to every heart. For only You are the Way, the Truth and the Life, Jesus. Only in You do the nations find the meaning they seek. Only in You do we experience the forgiveness that leads to abundant life here on earth and eternal life in Heaven. Don’t let even one more person die without hearing Your good news. In Your name we pray. Amen.
