In 1 Timothy 2:1-4, we are called upon to pray for those in authority over us, for the ruler of our nation, “so that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.” So, let’s pray, both for our current president and for the upcoming elections.
Lord, please give the President wisdom in every encounter. Guide his every decision, and bring forth the purposes You have for the US and its influence on the world. As he deals with pressure from all sides, show him where he needs to give in and where he needs to hold fast. Surround him with people who advise him to do what is right and good, who have the influence and favor to speak truth and wisdom from above in a way he can receive. Remove from his favor those who press their own agendas, rather than what is good for the country and for the world. Give him understanding, knowledge, courage and compassion to do what is right. Talk to him throughout the day, and touch his heart with the things of Yours. Open his mind to comprehend the riches of Love, and to seek You above any earthly power or gain. Bring into his path Christians who listen to You and follow Your ways. Give them such favor that he pulls them in close around him to have a voice in what goes on throughout the country, so that wherever wrong has been done, things can be put into place to make it right, and wherever present or past administrations have made errors, he will have the courage to step up and make right and good changes. As he deals with Congress and with current issues in the US, help him address real problems with real solutions that will bring forth Your good purposes. Remove from office those who are bent on destroying this nation, and raise up in their place those who will bless the people and help the nation prosper in the ways that matter most. As he deals now with so many heads of state all across the globe, both friendly and hostile, keep his mind sharp and wise to see what is beneath their words and to speak to the true issues in a way that will influence those nations to do what is right and good. Sovereign God, move Your hand over this nation, setting right what has been done wrong, healing those who are broken, protecting the innocent, shielding those who want to walk uprightly, and empowering every man, woman and child to freely know the Truth that sets them free. Give the President and all who are in his administration a deep hunger for You. Push back every enemy purpose, and bring forth Yours. Open the minds of all to see Love and Truth as the only Way. Break their hearts for what breaks Yours. Move man’s agendas aside to raise Yours high for all to see. Spread Your arms wide to the US and to the world, inviting every heart into Your kingdom and opening the way for every person to hear Your Good News and be saved.
We also ask You, Lord, for Your choice for President in the upcoming elections. Move every heart to vote Your way, and protect that election to bring forth Your purposes in this nation and in the world.
