This past year has been one of persecution, wars, displaced families, as well as record-breaking heat, fires, floods, earthquakes….
We can all add to that list our own trials. But have they changed you? Have you allowed them to deepen your faith, strengthen your resolve and break free from the strongholds that block you from more of Him?
“When you hear of wars and uprisings, do not be frightened. These things must happen first, but the end will not come right away…. Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be great earthquakes, famines and pestilences in various places, and fearful events and great signs from heaven.
“They will seize you and persecute you. They will hand you over to synagogues and put you in prison, and you will be brought before kings and governors, and all on account of My name. And so you will bear testimony to Me. But make up your mind not to worry beforehand how you will defend yourselves. For I will give you words and wisdom that none of your adversaries will be able to resist or contradict. You will be betrayed even by parents, brothers and sisters, relatives and friends, and they will put some of you to death. Everyone will hate you because of Me. But not a hair of your head will perish. Stand firm, and you will win life.
Jesus, Luke 21:9-19 (NIV)
No matter how many ways the enemy tries to beat us down, God is doing something good in the midst of it. And however many things He is doing, you can be sure that He is always drawing us to Himself. So, walk toward Him. Choose to love, to stand firm in the faith, to draw all the closer to Him and let Him change you. Because if you have gone through a trial and have come out unchanged, then you just might find yourself in another. We were not created to be comfortable with everything going our way. We were created for salvation, to know the Lord, to love Him and bring Him glory by drawing others to Him. So, how’s that going for you?
Now, let’s pray for record-breaking numbers of people coming to Christ.
Lord, so many of us have lost loved ones, homes, businesses, livelihoods, hope. We’ve faced death, fire, storms, floods, violence, prejudice, loss, battles. We’ve stood up for what we thought was right, only to find we were wrong. We’ve chased our dreams, only to see them destroyed. We’ve focused on what we thought was important, only to lose it all. So many people have fought against freedom, attacked others, bullied them with agendas, only to find they were misled. How many of us have climbed and clawed our way to the top, only to fall? When will we learn, O God, that You are the One we need? That Love is what conquers all? When will we humble ourselves before You and seek Your face? Forgive us, Father. We have sinned. We do not deserve Your favor, but please, O God, have mercy on us now. We ask You, Lord, for this country and for the countries in the news that we have been praying for. We ask You to step in and meet every heart in such powerful ways, no one will be able to deny You are God. Lead us in Your paths of righteousness, Lord. Show the lost the way to salvation. Point us always in Your direction. And awaken the nations to You. Awaken my own heart to You, Lord. Renew my passion. Empower me to share Your love with the lost. And use me for Your glory. I want to be a light for You in the midst of so much darkness. In Your name, Jesus. Amen.
