HAITI: Gangs now have taken over about 80% of the capital. Violence is at horrific levels, after attacks on prisons freed thousands of inmates in recent days.
SUDAN: About 9 out of 10 people face emergency levels of hunger, as ongoing violence and civil war have cut them off from humanitarian aid. An estimated 18 million people deal with acute food insecurity, and millions more across the border in CHAD and SOUTH SUDAN.
GAZA: The US and Jordan conducted a second airdrop Tuesday, delivering nearly 37,000 meals to northern Gaza amid extreme food shortages. The first was over the weekend, after more than 100 people died last week trying to access food on convoys. (Continue praying by name for hostages held by Hamas at our Israel-Gaza page.)
USA: Over 114 people have died and about 257 have been wounded in more than 70 mass shootings so far this year across the nation. Due to a spike in violence in New York City, close to 1,000 National Guardsmen and state police have been deployed to provide security in subways.
Lord, please awaken every heart in each of these countries and situations to Your love. So much danger, death, hunger and instability remind us of humanity’s desperate need for You. Please rescue those in danger, comfort those who grieve, and speak to the hearts of those who are afraid or hurting. Touch each heart in such personal ways they will at last realize You are the One they long for. When they cry out to You, answer them, O Lord, in a way they will recognize You. Give the lost a hunger for peace, meaning, acceptance and love; and then satisfy them with Your felt presence. Bring Christians to them to show them Your love, care for their needs and share the good news of Your salvation. Bless Your people abundantly in each of these places so they will also abundantly share with those in need around them. Bring Christian counselors, medical workers and other aid workers to those in need. Lift the veil from the eyes of the lost so they will see You as You truly are and surrender their hearts to You as Savior. In the midst of every trial and tragedy, push back the enemy’s purposes, and bring forth Yours. Convince us of Your truth. Let us feel Your love like never before. And bring forth Your Kingdom in every heart, home, city and nation. Yes, Lord, awaken the whole Earth to Your salvation. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
