Tanzania: 11 Missionaries Dead, 9 Injured

One of two busses carrying Youth With A Mission facilitators and candidates of various nationalities was hit by a truck in a multi-vehicle accident which killed 11 of the YWAMers, a bus driver and several other people near Arusha, Tanzania, on February 24. All passengers on the other YWAM bus are safe. Missionary Isaac B., who was hospitalized, is also safely home now.

Pray for Mathurin B. and Joelle Z., who are still in critical condition, and for these six still hospitalized, but in stable condition: Paul Dav., Isaac B., Janet F., Cyrille A., Benjamin N., Paulo M.

Pray also for the families of these missionaries who died:

  • Claire M.
  • Zebulon T.
  • Emmanuel D.
  • Vicent K.
  • John M.
  • Blaise G.
  • Ime E.
  • Andrew D.
  • Chimene D.
  • Lova R.
  • Lordienne N.

For more information and to help with funeral arrangements, hospital bills, evacuations and other mounting expenses, please see the dedicated YWAM page.

Lord, please wrap Your arms around these families who are mourning now. Let them feel Your comfort and peace. Speak tenderly to them, and draw them close to You. Carry them through this difficult time and provide for all their needs. We ask the same for the others we do not know the names of who died. For family members who have not yet chosen to follow You, we ask You, please, to use this terrible tragedy for Your glory. As funeral arrangements are made, please draw in those who need You and make the way for them to hear the gospel and receive Your salvation. Bring Christians to them to minister to them in their grief and to show them the love, joy and peace found in Christ.

We thank You for all who are safe, and ask You now, O Great Physician, to miraculously heal Mathurin and Joelle. We speak LIFE over them in the name of Jesus. Heal them completely, along with Paul, Isaac, Janet, Cyrille, Benjamin and Paulo. Use them to be witnesses of Your goodness and power for many years to come. Chase out all their fears, strengthen their faith and raise them up to lead hundreds of lost people into Your arms.
