USA: One person died and more than 20 others, including children, were injured in a mass shooting Wednesday at a Kansas City Super Bowl victory rally attended by about 1 million people.
Lord, thank You for sparing so many lives, and for the brave people who tackled a gunman. But we pray now for Lisa Lopez-Galvan’s family, including two children, who are grieving her death. Please wrap Your arms around them and speak tenderly to them at this difficult time. Bring loving Christians to them to comfort them with Your love. Please also heal those who are wounded, and meet in very personal ways all who have been traumatized by this event. Set the assailants free from the chains that bind them to the evil one, and open the eyes of their hearts to see You as You truly are, repent and choose You as Savior. Show Yourself as Healer, Protector and Savior to every lost person who attended this event, and give them a hunger to know You that runs so deep they will seek You with all their hearts and find You. Bring Christians to them to love them and help them heal, sharing with them the good news that brings LIFE. In Your name. Amen.
PHILIPPINES: At least 68 people died and 51 are still missing after weeks of heavy rain caused a landslide to hit Masara village, Davao de Oro province a week ago. The last rescue, deemed a miracle after more than 60 hours buried beneath mud, was a three-year-old girl.
Lord, thank You for every life spared. If any more remain alive, please guide rescuers to them. Have mercy on those who are injured and grieving now. Bring Christian counselors, doctors and aid workers to them to show them Your love and share Your good news. Awaken the Philippines to You, O Lord. May every tribe of every language hear Your message of salvation and choose You as King.
MYANMAR: After a series of defeats by ethnic and other opposition fighters, Burma’s military regime has announced mandatory military service for all men ages 18-35 and women ages 18-27 in the war-torn Southeast Asian country. More than 45,000 people have died since the Burmese Army overthrew the elected government in February of 2021. This current war rides atop nearly 80 years of ongoing turmoil, making it the longest known civil war in history.
Father God, please provide a quick end to the war with the least amount of bloodshed. Turn this latest decree around to bring down the evil regime and open the way for a season of safety and peace. Raise up even now young people who will love You with all their hearts and take positions of authority to bless the people of Myanmar, to rebuild their lives on Love, not hatred. Be a Shield around them, hiding them from the Army and getting them to safety. In the midst of so much turmoil, thousands have come to faith in You. Please grow these new believers strong in Truth and Love. Multiply Your church by the millions. Make this broken nation into one that sings praises to Your name and spreads Your love abroad.
ARMENIA: Four Armenian soldiers were killed and another wounded in a recent border skirmish, the first since peace talks began after AZERBAIJAN recaptured the Armenia-occupied Nagorno-Karabakh region and more than 100,000 Armenians fled from their homes.
Lord, please comfort those who mourn and help these 100,000 Armenians who have been displaced find their home in You. Gather loving Christians and churches around them to help those whose faith has only been nominal to step into a deep, personal relationship with the One this life is for. And we pray also for the Muslim Azerbaijanis, that You will invade their dreams and show them the way to salvation. Lift the veil from their eyes so they will see You as You truly are, lay down their weapons and seek the God who is Love and Peace.
