Join us for 30 Days of Prayer for Global Awakening, March 11-April 9, 2024, as we pray for persecuted Christians, their persecutors and the nations to awaken to Christ’s love.
PAKISTAN: Last week, Christian teen Sunil Masih (age 14) died for his faith when six armed Muslim extremists shouted threats against Christians and open-fired on a group of believers talking together at a market in Punjab Province, where several Muslim mobs have attacked Christians over the past few months. The boy’s uncle recognized the assailants as Zaman Butt, Anas Yaseen, Adil Abdul Rehman, Ashraf Inayat Ullah and two unidentified men. They also shot another Christian boy, Jamshed, but the bullet only grazed him. (Morning Star News, February 6)
Lord, please comfort Sunil’s family in their loss, and heal Jamshed and the other believers’ minds and hearts as they recover from trauma. Invade the dreams of Zaman, Anas, Adil, Ashraf, and the. others involved in the attack. Lift the veil from their eyes so they will see You as You truly are. Strike them with such fear of the Lord that they fall at Your feet in repentance. Please protect all Christians in Punjab and all throughout Pakistan during this time of increased persecution. Give Muslims such a revulsion at seeing such acts of violence in the name of “God” that they stand against terrorism, seek Truth with all their hearts and find You.
USA: A woman claiming to have a bomb open-fired with a long gun inside a megachurch in Houston around 2 p.m. Sunday, just before a Spanish-language service began. Two off-duty police officers shot and killed her, but her seven-year-old child was critically injured in the crossfire. A 57-year-old man, also wounded, is now safely home from the hospital. Lakewood Church is a well-known megachurch led by Pastor Joel Osteen.
Father God, thank You for these men who stepped in to stop the woman before she killed anyone. As her son fights for his life, please have mercy on him. Wrap Your arms around him and let him feel You near. Provide for him a loving family to love him and help him through all the trauma, should he survive. As his father is in jail related to sexual offenses, break the chains that have bound him to so much evil. Set him free to seek Love with all his heart and find You. Bring Christians to him to share with him Your good news. From out of all the enemy meant for evil, please bring about great good, like only You can.
SUDAN: Since war broke out last April, the peoples of Sudan have experienced brutal rapes, killings on the streets and in their own homes, looting, the displacement of more than 7.3 million people. Because 97% of the country adheres to Islam, Christians are among those most severely persecuted. Several church buildings and missions came under attack recently, including the Omdurman church building used by Episcopal and Evangelical Christians and Khartoum’s Dar Mariam Mission harboring many refugees.
Lord, please protect every Christian in Sudan from persecution and harm. Provide for all their needs so abundantly they will also help their neighbors abundantly. Open up opportunities for them to share Your good news with their Muslim neighbors in such a way that they will know beyond any doubt that You are the One they’ve been longing for. Use this terrible war to break down Islamic service to a god of terrorism, hatred, oppression and evil. Ignite every heart to seek the One True God of Love. May they defy tradition to run after Truth with all their hearts and end their search in Your arms, O Light of the World.
THAILAND: In recent years, perhaps 1,000 persecuted Hmong and 1,500 other ethnic minority Christians from VIETNAM have sought asylum in Thailand. But at the end of last year, Lu A Da, a former missionary with the Northern Evangelical Church of Vietnam and head of the Hmong Human Rights Coalition, was arrested in Bangkok, as were 11 Montagnard Christian refugees from Vietnam. (ICC December 21, 2023).
Lord, please be a Shield around persecuted Christians seeking shelter in Thailand and other neighboring countries. Give them favor and provide for all their needs. Release from jail those who are innocent and who seek to do good. Give them a safe place to call home. For the Hmong and other Montagnard Christians whose lives and families face danger daily at the hands of those bent on evil, please send Your angels to surround them and fight for them. Give Christians such love, peace, joy and forgiveness that their persecutors will see their hearts and the powerful angels who guard them, and fall to their knees before You in fear of the Lord and repentance. In the midst of such oppression, bring about a great church planting movement all throughout Vietnam and the surrounding countries, with thousands coming to faith in Christ.
Yes, Lord, please awaken Pakistan, the USA, Sudan, Thailand, Vietnam and the whole world to Your love, May every heart in every nation hear Your good news in a way they can easily understand and choose to follow You.
