2024: “Super Election Year”

This year is perhaps the biggest election year in history, as more than 60 nations expect to hold national elections involving some 2 billion voters.

With a population of 1.44 billion, India‘s Lok Sabha (House of the People) election in April/May is by far the largest and potentially the most dangerous for persecuted Christians. As Hindu extremists (RSS-BJP) gain popularity, Christians, Muslims and other already persecuted minorities are in even greater danger if the zero tolerance many Hindus condone goes into effect.

Sovereign God of the Whole Earth, we call upon You now for the nations. You are in control. Nothing happens but that You allow it, and if You allow it then You have a purpose. So we trust You, Father, for the results of these elections. All across the world, swing votes in Your favor. Bring into power those who desire to bless, not persecute; to do good, not destroy lives; to bring freedom, not oppression; to open the way for Your Good News to be preached freely to every heart. Give every person running for office a hunger for You that far surpasses their desire for power or money. Lift the veil from their eyes so they will see You as You truly are. Visit them in their dreams. Talk to them throughout the day. Break the chains that bind them to other gods and set them free to repent and turn to You. Raise up Christians and sympathizers to run for office who will follow Your wisdom and open doors for Your good news to reach every tribe, tongue and nation. Protect Christians in every country and use them for Your glory to influence those of influence, to show them the way of salvation and lead to faith those who will in turn lead many more to faith. Protect Christians from harm and bless them abundantly so they can abundantly bless others and share of the wonders of Your love. In so many of these countries Your people are persecuted greatly.

We ask You especially now for India. Make the way for the mostly Christian states of Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur and Mizoram to continue worshipping You freely, as well as other Christians all throughout that nation. Already Your children have endured much at the hands of Hindus who hate You. Churches and homes have been burned, and Christians beaten, raped and killed in the name of Hinduism. Please, Lord we ask You for mercy. Be a Shield around Your beloved people. Give them strength in the midst of hardship and discrimination and grace to forgive. Drive out fear with Your never-ending love. Provide for their every need, and may Your Kingdom spread and churches multiply by thousands upon thousands, no matter what happens this year. Be good to Your sheep, O Kind Shepherd, and to those not yet of Your flock because they have not yet heard Your Good News. Make the way for every person of every tribe and tongue and nation to know Your plan of salvation.

Yes, O God, awaken all the nations of the Earth to Your great love and salvation.

“All the ends of the earth will remember and turn to the Lord, and all the families of the nations will bow down before him, for dominion belongs to the Lord and he rules over the nations.”
