The same night I experienced two dreams. In the first, I saw a woman looking out at the mountains rising high and beautiful ahead of her and all around her in the wilderness. I heard the Lord say “New horizons,” and felt the exhilerating joy of adventure. Wrapped in the presence of the One Who goes with her, the mountains were a shield around her, inviting her to climb to higher heights.
Then I dreamed from another viewpoint of the bride. All around her and before her rose a solid, black wall of towering demons linked together, hissing and closing in fast upon her. She trembled, anxious, afraid, trapped, hopeless, like there was nowhere to hide, no safety, no peace, nothing all around her but darkness she couldn’t escape.
In both dreams, what the bride saw had everything to do with how she felt, and what she felt had everything to do with what she saw. The one who looked with eyes of faith in the Sovereign One invited His presence and guidance like a shield drawing her all the closer to Him. Psalm 125:2. But in the second dream, an outlook of fear invited the enemy near. James 4:7-8.
What do you see in the midst of your present trials?
Are you surrounded by the Lord? Or evil?
Are you filled with faith? Or fear?
Father, please calm our anxious fears. Let us feel You here with us and fix our eyes on You and where You’re taking us, rather than on all the evil around us. Guide us as we navigate the challenges ahead, and draw us all the closer to You. Remind us You are with us, You fight for us, and You go before us, preparing the way. Exodus 14:14. Nothing takes You by surprise. You already know every challenge we will face, and You have a plan. No matter what looms before us, You are GREATER. You are Higher. You are Stronger. You are Beautiful. And You are Good. Crush our enemy. Don’t let us get caught in his traps, but destroy him with the very weapons he meant to destroy us. Psalm 37:14-15, Romans 8:28. May those bent on evil turn on each other. 2 Chronicles 20. And may Your people shine as stars in the darkness, bringing many to righteousness. Daniel 12:3.
