Praying for Yemen’s Salvation

Since Yemen’s warring sides failed to renew a truce that expired last month, fighting has continued at a standstill, giving respite to their haggard nation. In the meantime, however, Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthi rebels have begun attacking Israel.

Although Yemen is the third most dangerous country in the world for followers of Jesus, nearly a decade of a hate-filled Muslim civil war has led many Yemenis to question Islam, seek Truth and find Jesus. In fact, Yemenis have seen an estimated more than 11,000 children killed, raped or maimed since the civil war began in 2014, and a total of more than 377,000 people dead from war-related causes.

Join with us in praying for a vast shift from serving evil to seeking Christ in Yemen.

God of Love, we thank You that even though Yemen’s civil war has not ended, at least for now they are at a standstill. Please comfort those who mourn and heal the hearts, minds and bodies of those who have suffered great loss and trauma. Please, God, get up in the face of every person and show them who You are. Give them a hunger for You more desperate than all other needs. Then make the way for them to hear Your Good News. Bring Christians into their path. Invade their dreams. Place Your name upon their lips. When they cry out to You, answer them. Perform signs and miracles and wonders to show them Your great love and increase Your church. Make the way for those who hunger for You to find You. Surround both seekers and believers with Your angels and shield them from harm. Strengthen Christians’ faith and use them to shine so brightly in the midst of such terrible darkness all will see their peace and be drawn to You. Point out to Christians those who are in need, and empower them to rescue, heal, shelter, feed, encourage and counsel them. Give them boldness to share Your Word, even in the face of death, and bless them abundantly. Multiply their food and other supplies so miraculously, the needy will know to come to them for help.

O Father, Yemeni children have known only violence, fear and hunger. Have mercy, please. Intervene on their behalf. Heal their minds from so much trauma. Meet them in real and personal ways such that they know it is You. So many are being raped, maimed or forced to kill by those who care nothing for their lives. Rise up and be their Shield. Block every evil aimed at them. Make the way for truth seeds to be planted in their hearts, grow roots, and sprout unto salvation. For You created them for special purposes — to know You, to enjoy Your great love, to love You back, and to draw others into Your arms through the power of Your love in them. Matthew 22:37-40. Raise up a new generation of Yemenis who will love You with all their hearts and lead their nation to salvation. Awaken every heart in Yemen to You. Lift the veil from Yemeni eyes so they will see You are the One they’ve been waiting for. Foil every plan to harm Israel, the US or others they consider “infidels”, and bring Muslim extremists to their knees in fear of the Lord. Show them once and for all that You alone are God. Bring forth a great shift within those vying for power to no longer serve evil, but to seek Truth and find Him at last. John 8:31-32. Yes, Lord, awaken Yemen to Your love. May they worship You alone as God. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
