Praying for God’s Mercy on Gaza

It has now been several weeks since Hamas terrorists invaded Israel on October 7, beginning a war which has cost thousands of lives and sparked anti-Palestinian and antisemitic protests and violence throughout the world, including hundreds of thousands of people protesting against such prejudice.

Meanwhile, the humanitarian situation in Gaza has worsened dramatically, as drinking water, safe shelter, medical care and food are scarce. Hundreds of people are missing, and an estimated more than 11,000 Palestinians have died without ever hearing the good news about Christ.

Sadly, the Islamic extremists who rule the 99% Muslim Gaza Strip have used Palestinian civilians as human shields, purposefully setting up their terrorist operations within and beneath hospitals, schools, mosques and other locations where innocents have sought shelter, forcing them to remain there rather than heed Israel’s warnings to head southward.

At least one such Hamas leader, Ahmed Siam, responsible for holding hostage about 1,000 Gazan citizens and patients at Rantisi Hospital and preventing their evacuation, is now dead, according to various news reports over the weekend. But other hospitals are now running low on oxygen, electricity and fuel, and most have had to close.

Lord, as grave as Gaza’s situation is, their greatest need is for salvation. Please have mercy. Make a way for Your good news to reach those who are trapped in the midst of a war begun by Muslim terrorists who care not for their well-being. Open their eyes to see the horrors of religion gone wrong, and give them a deep hunger for Truth. Visit them in their dreams, talk to them throughout the day. Bring Christians to them to show them the way to You, Jesus, and save them. Miraculously rescue those trapped beneath the rubble. Heal their wounds, protect them from further harm, feed their bodies and souls like only You can as they wait. Meet them in their darkest moments with the light of Your love and show them the way to salvation. Comfort those who mourn. Show up in their dreams. Talk to them throughout the day. Awaken their hearts to long for something more than the hatred, violence and terror their religion has brought upon them. In the midst of so much death, give them a longing for the One who is Life. In the midst of hatred and violence, show them the wonders of Your love. Make a way for every person in Gaza to hear Your good news and be saved. Tear down the walls of anger, prejudice, religion and hatred, and break the chains that bind them to Satan’s purposes. Pierce through the darkness that covers their land with Your glorious light. March in Your angel armies to fight for the children, the innocent, the war-weary, the wounded, the traumatized. Conquer the evil that has reigned in that land and replace it with freedom. Set up Your throne there in Gaza, where Satan has reigned far too long. Bring so many thousands to faith in You that a movement will begin all across the Middle East to lay down weapons of warfare and seek the One who is the Way, the Truth and the Life. Bless Palestinian Christians so abundantly and miraculously they will abundantly and powerfully love and bless the thousands around them who are in need. Use them to pray for the sick and wounded, and then perform miracles and signs and wonders as You did in days of old, even raising the dead. Show forth Your love in such powerful ways the veil is lifted from the eyes of the lost so they will see You as You truly are and open wide their hearts to believe at last in the One who died to set them free. Begin a church planting movement that takes over all of Gaza, Palestine and even Israel. End the war with a new era of Love and Salvation like only You can, Jesus. And O God, we ask You for the soul of every Hamas terrorist. Meet them in the tunnels where they hide. Break through their darkness with Your light. Show up in their midst and reveal to them the truth of who You are. Hand them the Way to salvation before it’s too late. As they murder and harm in the name of Allah, pierce their hearts with the truth that God is Love, that what they have killed for is all a lie. Give them so many dreams and visions of Jesus, they have no choice but to lay down their weapons and surrender to Truth. May they worship You alone as God, and may true praise arise to the only One who is King. Yes, awaken Palestine, awaken Israel, awaken the Muslim world and all the Earth to the One who is truly Lord of All. In Your name, Jesus. Amen.
