In these days of intense pressure from peers, social media, movies, teachers, and even some professed Christians seeking to influence our children to be other than who God created them to be, we must be all the more diligent in prayer and in training them up to be Christ’s.
Lord, we pray for our children. Please protect them from the evil one. Be a Shield around them, knocking back every attack against their minds, hearts and souls. Let them feel Your presence so close, hear Your voice so clearly, know Your love so deeply, they will give their all to You, shun evil and live passionately for Your purposes all the days of their lives. Even now, as our babies are learning to walk and talk, to interact with people, to seek You, to know You, to walk in love, … guard them, O God. Protect them from abuse and harm, from lies and evil. Guard their dreams, guard their ways. Give us wisdom as parents to know how to pray for them, what powerful plans You want to prophesy over them, how to model for them a life sold out to You. Set us free from our strongholds, so our children will also be free. Teach us to seek You first, openly and publicly, before every decision, so our children will also seek You before their daily decisions. Proverbs 3:5-6. Appoint even now the godly spouses for our children that You have chosen, and protect them to grow up to be men and women of God who love You with all their hearts, even as You raise up our own children in oneness with You. Give our girls joy in becoming women, and our boys excitement in becoming men. Grant them courage to go against the grain of the world and rise up as more than conquerors through Your love and truth. May others see their joy and peace in being who You created them to be and also feel encouraged to walk out as men and women of God who put You first, who love their bodies as You have made them, who marry godly spouses who love You with all their hearts and raise loving families founded on faith, hope, truth and love. Teach them even now how to overcome conflict through grace, forgiveness and love. Make them brave warriors of faith, standing strong in Truth, even as others shout lies. Empower them even now to speak the words of life and peace and hope that knock down enemy schemes to kill, steal and destroy other children and youth around them. Make our homes a safe place where children from lost families will feel loved, where they will come for advice, and where they will seek You and find You, Lord. Awaken parents to Your love and truth. Knock them out of their stupor of addiction and self-seeking, and push them through the doors of loving churches and into the circles of caring Christians who will show them what this life is for; and then give them the courage to respond to Your invitation to salvation and freedom from strongholds. Use them to influence their families to know and love You, to worship You alone as God. O Lord, the pandemic and social pressures have emptied our churches. Fill them once again. Catch hearts on fire for You. Draw Christians back in. Bring the lost to salvation. Grow children up in loving churches where they will be discipled in truth and pray for Your purposes in this world. Raise up from this generation those who will passionately share Your good news with the lost. Make our children history makers, mighty warrior-leaders who will push back the darkness with Your light. Awaken our homes to You, Lord. And protect our children’s hearts to know You so deeply, You will use them to awaken the world to You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
