An explosion at Gaza’s Al-Ahli Baptist Hospital on Tuesday killing hundreds of displaced people sheltering there has sparked anger all across the Middle East, North Africa and world. Israel says one of about ten Islamic jihadist rockets launched at the precise moment the hospital was hit may have misfired; while Gaza blames Israel for the hit.
Several Muslim-majority countries have publicly condemned Israel, among them Iraq, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Jordon and Egypt. Thousands of protestors have risen up to loudly chant their hatred for Israel in those countries, as well as in Iran, Kuwait, Tunisia, Turkey and Ramallah city in the occupied West Bank.
Lord, please have mercy on Israel, Gaza, Muslims and the whole world at this difficult time. Comfort those who mourn. Heal those who are wounded and broken. Rescue those who are trapped or in danger. Guide those who make decisions. Compel them to do what is right. Steal into the sealed hearts of those who have strongly stood against You — even as they claim to stand for You — and touch their hearts with love and grace. Push out fear and hatred, for Your name is Love, O God, and our true enemy is not each other, but Satan. Meet every Muslim, Jew and unbeliever in their dreams at night, showing them who You are. Lift the veil from their eyes and unstop their ears. Break the chains that bind them to religion, tradition, prejudice, hatred, violence and every evil act. Let them see fighting is not the answer; the only way to receive true freedom, peace and acceptance is through surrender to You, for the One who saves us, Your Son, has already come. Awaken Gaza, Israel and all of the Middle East and world to You, O God. Burn like an all-consuming fire, leaping over walls of religion, prejudice and terror to ignite every heart with the flames of Your unending love. Visit the lost in dreams and visions. Stand in the midst of both Muslims and Jews who pray and tell them who You truly are. Show up in such powerful ways that both those who run from You and those who seek You will find You. So many are coming to You now in this region, especially as they see Muslim violence. They want to follow a God of Love, not war. Break their hearts and show them the way to salvation. Be tenderhearted toward refugees, O God. Bring Christians to them to care for them, counsel them and share Your Good News. Make a way for every person of every tribe and language to hear Your Word and be saved. Hide every Christian and church from persecution and harm. Rise up and fight for Your people, O Lion of Judah. May those bent on evil hear You roar, and tremble. Fill every Christian in this region with unending peace and even joy in the midst of trials. Give them courage to SHINE in such deep darkness. May those bent on evil see their forgiveness and surrender to the God who loves like that. And please, Lord, draw the people of Israel up into Your arms. Show them Jesus is the One they’ve been longing for. May they meet such loving Christians and hear the Gospel presented in such a clear way they cannot deny the Truth. Bring about a church planting movement that will turn every heart to You.
