Fighting in Israel

Yesterday, Palestinian militants invaded Israel from several locations and launched around 5,000 rockets from Gaza. The surprise Hamas attack, called “Al-Aqsa Storm,” killed 1,200 in Israel, and injured thousands more. Israel Defense Forces are fighting back in several locations, including villages, army bases and border crossings. In Gaza, at least 256 Palestinians have died and nearly 2,000 are wounded. Around 240 foreigners and Israelis have been taken hostage, including soldiers. Hamas fighters are still present in the southern Israeli cities of Ofakim, Sderot, Yad Mordechai, Kfar Aza, Be’eri, Yated, and Kissufim. (CNN)

Lord, please comfort those who mourn and heal the wounded. Keep hospitals and medical workers in operation and provide the emergency care these thousands need right now. Shield the innocent. Hide them from harm and get them to safety. Give leaders, soldiers and others wisdom to protect people and quickly end the violence. March Your angel armies through the streets to restrain wrong and bring forth right. Merciful God, both sides need to know Your saving grace. Israel is 97% unreached with the Gospel and Gaza 99%. Steal into every home in both territories, touching every heart and awakening it to You. Make a way for every person in the region to hear Your Good News in a form they can easily understand. Lift the veil from their eyes so they will see You as You truly are. Whatever religious or other reasons both Muslims and Jews have held onto to keep them from Christ’s love, please topple those barriers now and give them a hunger for Truth. Whenever they cry out to You in prayer, come and meet with them. Talk to them. Plead with them to listen, to surrender to You. For You are the One they’ve been fighting against all along. Let them hear Your voice so clearly, they cannot evade the Truth. Invade their dreams at night, give them visions during the day. Place the Good News in their face where they cannot look away. Grab their attention and pull them in with Your love and grace. Tear down every wall of tradition so that nothing stands between them and Truth. Set them free to believe in the Prince of Peace who came to bring them life everlasting. Touch their hearts so dramatically they cannot help but surrender to the only Way, Truth and Life. Mend broken relationships. Heal those who have been deeply hurt. May they taste of Your goodness and live forever. We speak LIFE now, in the name of Jesus, over Israel and over Gaza. Bring an end to death and violence, and new life through Christ. We ask You, Lord, for Christian medical and aid workers, counselors and others to step in now and help with the wounded, grieving, displaced and needy. Shine Your love and light and gospel through them in the midst of this dark battle, and show them the Messiah. Show them why Your name is Love, and the power of Jesus’ death and resurrection.
