Heavy rainfall and floods caused the collapse of several buildings and the deaths of between 150 to 250 people in Derna, Libya this weekend.
At least 26 people have died in the floodwaters of Greece, Turkey and Bulgaria since last Tuesday, 15 of those in Greece. Thousands have been rescued, but people are still missing. Electricity, gas, telephone and internet lines are still down in many areas.
The death toll in southern Brazil has now reached 39 since a winter cyclone hit last Monday in 70 cities, displacing more than 6,000. In Mucum, 15 bodies were found in just one house.
Hong Kong has continued to experience record-breaking rainfall, raising floodwaters all the more into the weekend. Hundreds have been injured, some critically, and two have died. In neighboring Guangdong Province, 11,000 people were evacuated from the city of Meizhou, China.
Meanwhile, the death toll in Morocco‘s Friday night earthquake has risen to 2,122, with 2,421 injured.
Loving Father, we ask for Your mercy, please. Rescue those who are trapped, heal those who are injured, comfort those who mourn, provide for those in need, and rebuild the lives and homes of those who have lost so much. Do all these things in such a way that they will know You are the One who did that. When they cry out to You, answer them. Perform signs and wonders, miraculous healings, rescues and provision. Protect the children, heal hurting hearts and provide safe shelter, electricity, food and water for those without. Place within every soul a deep thirst for You. Remove every barrier that has kept them from salvation and give them courage to seek You and find You. Bring loving Christians to the lost to share Your Good News. For Christians who are homeless now or who have lost loved ones, please carry them through this difficult time like only You can. Renew their strength and empower them to encourage others around them who are also hurting, offering them hope, a safe shoulder to cry on, and the way to salvation. Bless Christians so abundantly they will also abundantly bless others in need, showing how real Your love is. Bring forth a mighty movement of Your Spirit all across each of these countries and beyond, leading thousands to faith in You. Open the eyes of the spiritually blind to see You as You truly are, and awaken every heart to Your truth and grace. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
