Floods Across the World

In Spain, a ten-year-old boy was rescued Monday after clinging to a tree all night to avoid floodwaters from Storm Dana, which claimed the lives of at least three people. The boy’s father is still missing.

Continued rain after Typhoon Haikui has broken reservoirs and spread muddy floodwaters across parts of Fujian Province, China, causing the evacuation of more than 36,000. Just a few days ago, Typhoon Saola battered Shenzhen, Hong Kong and Macau, killing at least one. And just last month, more than 60 died in heavy flooding in Beijing and Hebei Province.

A cyclone battered 60 cities in Rio Grande do Sul State, southern Brazil, on Monday, killing at least 21 and displacing more than 1600. In June, a cyclone hit the same state, killing more than 13 and displacing thousands.

In Greece, Turkey and Bulgaria, at least seven people died and several are still missing due to rainstorms and flooding on Tuesday.

At least two people are dead, including a 13-year-old boy, after floods swept through Las Vegas, Nevada, in the USA last weekend.

Loving Father, please rescue those who are trapped, heal those who are injured, comfort those who mourn, provide for those in need, and rebuild the lives and homes of those who have lost so much. Do all these things in such a way that they will know You are the One who did that. When they cry out to You, answer them. Protect the children, heal hurting hearts and provide safe shelter, electricity, warmth, food and water for those without. Place within every soul a deep thirst for You. Remove every barrier that has kept them from salvation and give them courage to choose You as their Lord. Bring loving Christians to them to share Your Good News. For Christians who are homeless now or who have lost loved ones in the storms, please carry them through this difficult time like only You can. Renew their strength and empower them to encourage others around them who are also hurting, offering them hope, a safe shoulder to cry on, and the way to salvation. Bless Christians so abundantly they will also abundantly bless others in need, as they share Your Good News with the lost. Bring forth a mighty movement of Your Spirit all across each of these areas affected by floods, leading thousands to faith in You. Open the eyes of the spiritually blind to see You as You truly are, and awaken every heart to Your love. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
