When Alix Dorsainvil, a missionary nurse with El Roi Haiti was abducted last month along with her baby daughter, thousands of Haitians risked their lives to march in protest, crying out not only for their freedom, but for that of all Haitians held hostage by terrorizing gangs.
In fact, just this past weekend gangs open-fired on a a group of around 100 church-goers protesting violence. At least seven died and dozens were injured.
The mother and baby were released unharmed on August 8, praise God. This video below is her touching thank you to the courageous Haitians who marched and to those of us who prayed. But it also includes a powerful message of forgiveness and God’s grace for Alix’s kidnappers:
Gang violence and kidnappings are a constant threat in Haiti. Tens of thousands of people have been displaced from their homes, hundreds of civilians have been killed, women and children face constant threat of rape and abuse, and Haitians undergo life-threatening circumstances in their desperate attempts to escape.
Lord, thank You for Alix and her daughter’s safe release. Please heal their minds, hearts and bodies from this ordeal. Make a way for her kidnappers to find this video and hear her message of forgiveness and Your love for them. Grip their hearts with longing for the peace and love so obvious in her. Give them a hunger for You so strong they will seek You with all their hearts and find You. Please guard Christians and innocent people everywhere in Haiti. Save their lives. Be a Shield around them. March Your angel armies into the midst of the turmoil and let the violent see You coming and tremble at the sight of You. Haunt them in their dreams and call them to Yourself throughout the day. Each time an evil plot is formed, foil it. Capture every one of those who are causing harm. Make their guns jam up, and their legs and arms freeze. Make them stop what they’re doing, and bring them to justice. Miraculously, Lord. For You are the God of Miracles. Come and meet the Haitian people in their time of need and gather them up into Your arms to be carried and protected by You through the mayhem. Bring forth a leader who will love his country, and a police force that is well fortified to combat and crush every gang and other violent offenders bent on murder and destruction. Wherever there are Christians who are trapped right now in affected areas, please call them to organize prayer meetings with their neighbors. Multiply their resources so abundantly and use their prayers to miraculously heal those who have been harmed or who are starving or ill, so that all will see that You are the God of Love, that You see them, You love them, and You care for their needs. Help Christians openly share of their provisions and Your love and healing with those in need, and use this terrible crisis to bring many lost into Your Kingdom. Including the kidnappers and violent offenders. Touch their hearts so deeply with Your love, they open wide to receive Your forgiveness and salvation, and then turn to lead other gang members to faith in You. Awaken Haiti to Your love and salvation now, Father. May anarchy pass away and Your Kingdom come soon to the people of Haiti who need You so desperately.
