Fastest Growing Underground Church

Conversion to Christianity is punishable by death in 98% Muslim Iran. The Middle Eastern country ranks eighth in the lineup of most dangerous countries for those who seek Christ, but first as far as fastest growing underground church. Estimates put the current number of Christians anywhere from 300,000 to one million and climbing.

One Iranian woman led more than 40 people to Christ shortly after her own conversion. Another whole family traumatized by demons came to Christ and found freedom and peace. Hundreds have been visited by Jesus in their dreams and now believe.

Heart4Iran says 90% of those who call their 24-7 ministry and prayer line are Muslims seeking Christ. “They call us for prayer [because] they don’t have anywhere to go.”

“When people from Muslim backgrounds become Christians, they can only meet in secret house churches. They are at great risk of being monitored, harassed, arrested and prosecuted for ‘crimes against national security’ – an accusation that is notoriously poorly defined, and can be abused. Iranian house church leaders and members have received long prison sentences involving physical and mental abuse.

“Iranian Christians may be banned from education, lose their jobs and find it very difficult to get back into employment. For women, the situation is even more precarious because Iranian law grants women few rights. For trusting in Jesus, they are likely to be violently punished or divorced by their husbands and have their children taken away from them, if their faith is discovered.”

Lord, thank You for these lives that have been transformed by Your love. Please shield them now and every believer from malicious attacks. Each time Christians gather together, guard those underground churches with Your angel armies. Father, so many Muslims are weary of the violence and oppression, and longing for Truth. Meet them in their dreams. Draw them to the Heart4Iran prayer line, to Mohabat TV and other resources. Bring Christians to them to love them and show them the way to Christ. Draw them into Your arms, and save them, O God. The whole nation. Bring forth such a movement of Your Spirit that millions turn to You even this year. Grow Your church so fast it spills over borders to draw all nations and peoples into Your kingdom of Love.
