More than 2,400 people have been killed and nearly 1,000 injured in Haiti this year due to gang wars in Port au Prince. Over 900 abductions and countless carjackings, thefts, rapes and other abuses have compounded this year’s figures and caused more than 5,000 people to flee their homes in the last few days. Many of those were already living in improvised shelters. (France24, August 18) Estimates say nearly 200,000 Haitians are internally displaced, and almost half of Haiti’s population is food insecure.
Violence in the Caribbean nation increased greatly after the assassination of President Jovenel Moïse in July 2021. As the government weakened and dissolved, gang wars erupted, taking over most of the capital city and terrorizing citizens. preventing medical care and provisions from reaching those in need.
Lord, please have mercy on Haiti right now. You answered our prayers for nurse Alix and her baby’s release from abduction last week, and You miraculously provided for 20 kidnapped missionaries to walk past the guards out into the jungle and over a mountain to safety. We ask You now for many more miracles and mighty acts by Your hand. Please guard Christians and innocent people everywhere in Haiti, and especially those who are trapped in the midst of fighting in Port au Prince. Save their lives. Be a Shield around them. March Your angel armies into the midst of the turmoil and let the violent see You coming and tremble at the sight of You. Haunt them in their dreams and call them to Yourself throughout the day. Each time an evil plot is formed, foil it. Capture every one of those who are causing harm. Make their guns misfire, and their knives and other weapons to go missing. Break their legs that kick and arms that beat. Make them stop what they’re doing, and bring them to justice. Miraculously, Lord. For You are the God of Miracles. Come and meet the Haitian people in their time of need and gather them up into Your arms to be carried and protected by You through the mayhem. Bring forth a leader who will love his country, and a police force that is well fortified to combat and crush every gang and other violent offenders bent on murder and destruction. Wherever there are Christians who are trapped right now in affected areas, please call them to organize prayer meetings with their neighbors. Multiply their resources so abundantly and use their prayers to miraculously heal those who have been harmed or who are starving or ill, so that all will see that You are the God of Love, that You SEE them, You LOVE them, and You CARE. Help Christians openly share of their provisions and Your love and healing with those in need, and use this terrible crisis to bring many lost into Your Kingdom. Including the murderers, Lord. Touch their hearts so deeply with Your love, they open wide to receive Your forgiveness and salvation, and then turn to lead other gang members to faith in You. Awaken Haiti to Your love and salvation now, Father. May anarchy pass away and Your Kingdom come soon to the people of Haiti who need You so desperately We speak LIFE over Haiti now, in th name of Jesus. We speak HOPE, PEACE and SALVATION. Come quickly to their rescue, Lord. Rise up and fight for the downtrodden. Be Father to the orphans, Husband to the widows. Savior to all those who are lost. March in like a Mighty Warrior and rescue the battle-weary.
