Letter from Alix, Released from Abduction in Haiti

Missionary nurse Alix Dorsainvil and her baby, abducted last month in Haiti, were released August 8 healthy and unharmed after 13 days of captivity. Praise God!

Thank you to all of you who joined us at the Prayer Wall to fight for their release. Here is a note from Alix of gratitude to those who prayed:

I am completely humbled by the outpouring of support and prayer for myself and my sweet baby both during and following our time in captivity. God was so very present in the fire with us and I pray that when I find the words to tell our story, that the mighty name of Jesus may be glorified and many people will come to know his love. Thank you all from the depths of my heart for your love.

This song, See a Victory, was my battle cry during the most difficult moments. There’s a part that says, “You take what the enemy meant for evil, and you turn it for good.” And that is what he is already doing and will continue to do.

Alix Dorsainvil, nurse at El Roi Haiti

Gang violence and kidnappings are a constant threat in Haiti. Tens of thousands have been displaced from their homes, hundreds of civilians have been killed, women and children face constant threat of rape and abuse, and Haitians are enduring treacherous conditions to flee.

Lord, thank You for Alix and her daughter’s safe release. Please heal their minds, hearts and bodies from this ordeal. We watched You answer our prayers for Alix, and also for other missionaries gang members kidnapped over a year ago. You led them to walk past their guards out into the jungle and over a mountain to safety. Oh, how gracious and loving You are, Lord. Now, we beseech You for yet more miracles. Please guard Christians and innocent people everywhere in Haiti, and especially those who are trapped in the midst of fighting in Port au Prince. Save their lives. Be a Shield around them. March Your angel armies into the midst of the turmoil and let the violent see You coming and tremble at the sight of You. Haunt them in their dreams and call them to Yourself throughout the day. Each time an evil plot is formed, foil it. Capture every one of those who are causing harm, make their guns misfire, break their legs and arms, make them stop what they’re doing, and bring them to justice. Miraculously, Lord. For You are the God of Miracles. Come and meet the Haitian people in their time of need and gather them up into Your arms to be carried and protected by You through the mayhem. Bring forth a leader who will love his country, and a police force that is well fortified to combat and crush every gang and other violent offenders bent on murder and destruction. Wherever there are Christians who are trapped right now in affected areas, please call them to organize prayer meetings with their neighbors. Multiply their resources so abundantly and use their prayers to miraculously heal those who have been harmed or who are starving or ill, so that all will see that You are the God of Love, that You see them, You love them, and You care for their needs. Help Christians openly share of their provisions and Your love and healing with those in need, and use this terrible crisis to bring many lost into Your Kingdom. Including the kidnappers and violent offenders. Touch their hearts so deeply with Your love, they open wide to receive Your forgiveness and salvation, and then turn to lead other gang members to faith in You. Awaken Haiti to Your love and salvation now, Father. May anarchy pass away and Your Kingdom come soon to the people of Haiti who need You so desperately.
