Last Saturday, thousands of people gathered to protest the sexual assault of women from the mainly Christian Kuki ethnic group by mobs of Hindu Meiteis, who have continued to burn churches and run Christians from their homes since early May despite the presence of the Indian army in Manipur, India, where more than 65,000 people have now been displaced.
Due to anti-conversion laws and violence against non-Hindus, India ranks eleventh on Open Doors’ World Watchlist of most dangerous countries for those who seek to follow Christ.
Lord, please have mercy. Heal the minds, hearts and bodies of Kuki women who have been assaulted, and set them free from PTSD and fear. Protect Christian girls from harm and sexual abuse. We ask You, merciful God, to please bring an end to the violence in Manipur. Comfort those who mourn. Heal those who are injured. Provide for those left homeless and lead them to a place of safety and rest. Surround both Kuki and Meitei Christians with Your angel armies and hide them from those who seek to do them harm. Sustain them and speak tenderly to them. Strengthen their faith, and give them courage and grace to forgive. Build them up in You, and restore to them all that has been taken. Provide for them so abundantly they will also abundantly help others in need. Comfort those who mourn. We speak LIFE over them now in the name of Jesus. Fill them with hope, peace, faith and Your favor. Cover them with Your wings and anoint them to preach the Gospel to those who are lost and dying. May they shine Your Light so brightly darkness flees and those once bound to it are set free to know Christ. Father God, please pursue persecutors with Your love. Visit them in their dreams. Speak to them throughout the day. Urge them to lay down their many gods and choose You alone. Convict them, Lord, of the evil they have done and draw them to repentance and salvation. Bring Christians to them who will love them and show them the way to You. Replace a spirit of death with LIFE abundant. And open the way for all the unreached peoples of India to hear the Good News about Christ and be saved. Give them a hunger to know You so strong they will not give up until they find You. May Your Kingdom come among the Meitei of Manipur and the other more than a billion lost people in India. In Jesus‘ name. Amen.
